Corvette Column Lock Bypass Fixes a known problem area with Corvette C5. Do not get caught in the middle of nowhere or out on a date only to find out that your sterring wheel is completely locked up and you cannot drive without going in a constant circle. If you have a C5 Corvette, the column lock bypass switch is a MUST, otherwise you are playing with fire everytime you turn your car off and restart. The column lock bypass fixes this issue so that it cannot happen to you. This kit works on all 1997-2005 C5 Corvettes and includes everything you need to install (including instructions). It also comes with 12 volt adapter to disable the lock before installing the bypass device.

*This item is a preventative only! Vehicle must not have any problems before installing the bypass!***

Steering Lock Simulator Kit For 1997-2004 Corvettes Please read all instructions before beginning Kit contains: Lighter plug assembly, lock simulator Tools needed: flathead screwdriver and a Torx screwdriver Don’t perform any electric service with the vehicle on or with the keys in the ignition!! Installing this module will remove the steering lock function from your anti-theft system. The simulator will provide the proper signal to your vehicle computer to prevent error codes. Refer to your GM manual for disassembly procedures if necessary. Gently pull the trunk release / fog lamp switch plate away from the dashboard assembly and unplug the connector revealing one screw behind it. Remove this screw. Remove two screws located under the dashboard kneepad. (If equipped) Remove the interior air temperature sensor cover plate and unplug it revealing one screw. Remove this screw. Gently pull the dashboard kneepad away from the steering column and remove it. Find the four wires (black, green, orange, and purple) running under the dash to their connector and unplug it. This is the steering lock mechanism connector. Plug the column lock simulator into the connector that was previously connected to the steering lock mechanism (step 5). The steering lock mechanism MUST now be disengaged using the lighter power plug assembly. Connect the lighter power plug assembly connector to the locking mechanism connector unplugged in step 5 and the vehicle lighter receptacle. Turn key on momentarily. You should hear the steering lock mechanism disengage. Make certain the steering wheel moves freely, if not, refer to GM manual for removal of locking mechanism instruction. You must free the steering wheel before continuing. Remove the lighter plug assembly as it is no longer needed. Secure the column lock simulator under the dash using tape strip provided. Installation is complete. Reassemble the vehicle as needed. If a “service column lock” or pull key and wait 10 sec, error is displayed, remove the ignition key and fuses No. 25 and No. 29 from the fuse panel. Wait one minute and replace.
