Stock bore is 3.898. 2001-2003 LS1/LS6 can be bored 0.010... 97-00 can be honed 0.0040. To change stroke you need a new crank. Boring an LS1 isn't the way to make more power.

A good source of information on that is Chevy High Performance Magazine. It is kind of a tricky subject with the LS 1.Bore is kind of limited with the stock liners,,and stroke can also be tricky with it being very easy to have the piston skirts dip below the bottom of the liners and prematurely wear the bottom of the skirts. With custom bore liners and upper deck extensions you can build monster motors. The April 09 issue had a story about the deck plates.Raised the deck from 9.24 to 10.200. Deeper and bigger liners liners allowed a 4.02 bore and a 4.5 stroke for 500 CI. with LS7 heads and a bigger cam it made 717 horse NA and 923 with a 200 shot.1500 SC and 1700 twin turbos . Down side,,over $14k,but you get a $1 k discount if you send them your block. That issue had a lot of bore and stroke info.
