Default Are there any quiet aftermarket shifters?

I have searched several threads and it seems that a few noisy shifters pop up no matter what brand it is. Sometimes there are just too many threads that pop up when you search. So is it luck of the draw as far as if you get a noisy shifter or is there one brand that is generally quite? MGW seems to be the most popular, but they have a few rattle complaints as well.

Had my MGW for about 3 years. No problems or noise. YMMV.

It sounds like the lower box is a difference maker.

MGW with lower. No noises. Solid. Just buy it. You won't regret it.

We are still talking about the shifter right?

Did some of you have to add the lower box after having just MGW shifter in order to eliminate rattles?

I went with a new lower because I figured I wouldn't wanna get in there more than once. Do it right the first time. After looking at the stock setup vs theirs, it's a better more solid design. They both do the same thing, but it just is solid and new and smooth. I'm telling ya, goooooo for it!

What is the point of the lower box? Is it a "must have" mod?

Not as far as noise goes. Mines quiet, and it's been in the car for about 8 years. (MGW) I do use a C6Z box that came with the shifter I tried before, but it looks just like the one I removed. I did keep the C6 shift ****.

My understanding is the Z06 box is solid mounted while the rest have rubber bushings. While the intent was to make the shifting firmer, it also caused a rattle in the shifter. Unless that is just the C6 Z06 shifter kit everyone was buying for the C5's, either way, you can't buy a new solid mount shifter box anymore.

I've had a B&M Precision short throw shifter ever since the car had under 200 miles on it...never rattled or made noise other than the slight "clicking" sound when it goes into the gear I shifted to.

That was the other shifter I was looking at. Glad to know it's quite.

I just have the shifter. Did not see any need to replace the box. Shifter works fine as it is.

I have had the Hurst billet shifter in my car, and now have a custom shifter base from Core-shifters, and have never had any noise or rattle, but I have always trimmed the rubber boot where it fit tight around the shifter base and had a solid Hurst ball for the ****.

Lower box is stock Z06, which has the solid bushings.
The reason I went to the new shifter was to be able to use the classic Hurst chrome stick and ball.
