Nail on my tire HELP!
Got off work and noticed my rear driver side tire was low in air so I inspected it and I found this !!
It had 15lbs of air luckily I have one of those portable cig lighter air compressors to put in the car
I was told that if the air holds I can leave the nail in and just watch my pressure, my question is should I get it removed and patched or is it ok to drive with the nail in.. Or is it time to get new tires? Really wasn't tryna get new ones till next summer ...

Dang! Sorry to see that. At least they weren't brand new tires. I'm no expert but as long as its not on the side maybe you could get it professionally patched (plugs are a band aid) as long as you don't do high speeds I would think it would hold you over for a while no?
I'm curious as to the experienced members response. I want to learn the answer too incase it happens to me too.Good luck guy

Never drive with a nail in the tire unless you absolutely have to. Take it to a shop and have them properly plug and patch it. As mentioned your speed rating will fall way down with a patched tire so don't drive in Mexico

My car is scheduled for a dyno end of this month... Would a patch hold? Or am I gonna need a new set?

Went to tire shop tried to get it patched... I was told tires were too bald to patch, guys were real helpful hooked me up with a set of RE760 for 500 out the door...

Plug and patch would be the best way to go. I would not leave the nail in the tire.

I guess I'm the only guy with the chemical approach. I would have put in some tire sealant pulled the nail and let it go at that. But I would do some checking before any dyno pulls.

Nail in tire ,that stinks, can do you one better was driving on highway in my f150 (vette in the garage) when I picked up an intake valve, went straight through mid tire, all i heard was clack clack clack for about 1/4 mile before I pulled over.Tire actually held air lol. Shoulda seen tire guys face when I drove in for repair…dang shoulda took a picture. Anyhoo any good tire shop should be able to patch that up from the inside to hold you over expect to pay about 50$.

I would bet that doing that would lower your future resale value substantially
I carry plugs, Slime, Fix-A-Flat, and an air compressor in my Z06. I would feel fine plugging it but wouldn't do any high speed stuff.
Since you got new rear tires I suspect none of this advice matters now.

Wow that's something! Yeah I'm guilty of the regretful not taking a photo of interesting stuff... I think about it later after the fact when its said and done. Although I've gotten a little better with these higher quality camera phones.
StrandRider just my opinion on the goop. Although I carry it and will use it as a last resort only. I wouldn't be so quick to shoot that stuff in my wheels I'm of the opinion it screws with your expensive rims, tire sensors, ruins your tires etc. I will opt to plug it, way before using tire sealant goop, not that there's anything wrong with you using it on your car but I would not unless I had absolutely no other choice. Just my .02
Back to nails in tires....
