Got My Caravaggio Seats Put In- Interior Pics
I got this 02Z about three months ago. It already had cam/bolt ons/ clutch and some suspension work so I figured that'd be enough mechanically to hold me over for a while. The interior however needed work. It all black minus the red center console lid. The black C5 interior is just way too bland for me so after swapping in some mod red panels, getting an alcantara c6 shift **** and boot, alcantara with red stitch steering wheel, and some caravaggio race seats I think I'm satisfied.
For those that are wondering about the seats, I'm quite happy with them. I'm 6'5 ~200lbs so I don't have a problem fitting in the width-wise. Headroom is tight, they're about half an inch higher than the stockers but I had caravaggio make me a thinner bottom cushion which helps things a bit. For helmet use I'd have to take out the bottom cushions but they just velcro out so that's not a problem.
Overall they're quite comfortable. I was worried the fixed back design might bother me but I don't notice it at all. They're more comfortable than the stockers given that the side bolsters on the stockers are so weak I could often feel the seat frame digging into me around corners. Of course, no more sliding around through hard corners in these either. Leather quality in fantastic and I can't find any evidence of poor work on the seats at all. My only complaint was the wait. John quoted me 2 weeks when I ordered, I got them 9 weeks later. I wouldn't have minded the wait nearly as much if I had just been given realistic expectations from the beginning. This is a common problem, many forum members who order from caravaggio have noted the same issue.
The pictures make the seats look pinkish, in real life they match the mod red panels very closely.

Beautiful job on the interior - love the new seats.
I have wondered why no one ever poses sitting in the seats so we can get a better idea about how a, say 6' 4", 200 lb., driver fits. It would give us an even better idea about scale, fit, etc., I think.
You game?

Looks great! Interested to hear more on the steering wheel cover. Who made it, how did it install etc. I just laced up a Wheelskins leather cover on my old Miata and I didn't like the finished product that well.

I had Down South Vettes (DSV) do the wheel. I bought a core off the forum and sent it to them. This replaced me whole wheel so the airbag had to be removed and my old wheel pulled. Turn around time was about three weeks from DSV, cost was $300. I also had them add some padding so the rim is thicker than stock. DSV warned me that the alcanatara wouldn't wear well but I decided to take the risk anyway.

Great looking seats! That's a mod I'd like to do some day.
Car looks great too. It's the first time I've seen it...looks similar to mine . Do you like it better than the Viper?

It's actually not that much red if you consider surface area. More than half the interior is still black.
They sure are comfortable. They took a little bit of getting used to but after putting ~200 miles on it this weekend I felt like I was sitting on a park bench when I got in my DD for the week.
Got any pics of yours? What color? How long have you had them and how well have they held up?
Didn't I say your car was exactly what I was looking for? The seats are nice but I wish I had your power. Want to trade your motor for my seats?
There are some aspects of the Viper that I miss but as a whole I'm happier with this car. It's almost more fun to drive than the viper for a substantial amount less. Even if money weren't a factor I think I still prefer the Z.
Good eye. It's a 70 Coupe Deville if my memory serves me. It's a family member's car, I do my work at their house.
