Convertible Top Care
The top on my C5 has some small shinny spots on it. What is the best way to take care of this and also keep the top in good shape?
Any suggestions appreciated.

I don't know if there's really any way to truly get rid of shiney spots on a canvas top. It's like an old pair of pants with a shiney seat. The fibers have just been worn down in that spot. Depending on how bad the spot is, Raggtopp and other similar products (I use 303 Protectant) may help reduce the appearance, along with a soft brush to bring some memory back to the fibers but you have to be careful or you can make it worse.

I have a rag and a friend of mine has one also. It is normal (the shiney patches) they come and go and if the roof is left up for a longer time they disappear completely. After you store the roof even for a short time...voila they are back again. Don't worry, Rob

I have a shale top on my 50th AE.
Every time I put the top down I put a thin bed sheet over it and fold it in it the top.
It stops the top from rubbing on itself.
I got this idea from this forum, and my top looks like new with nothing done to it like Raggtop which I never got around to doing but I will.
