Default Horn problems

Hey guys. Need some help. I have a 98 and my horn stopped working. It sounds with the remote. The relay and fuse in the fuse box in the engine compartment are good. Any ideas? Would rather not take it to a dealer....help please

Here is the schematic. Since the FOB activates the horn via the BCM your problem is probably with the membrane in the steering wheel. They can be replaced and many people have fixed this just by removing and inspecting, apparently clearing the open circuit/fault. If you need more help let us know.

PS: Don't go into the membrane without disconnecting the battery. Wait at least a few minutes after that so the capacitor/stored energy in the system discharges or you could get a deployment.

If you horn works via the remote, then the problem is probably in the membrane inside the steering wheel. You're probably going to have to get into it. Be aware that working on the steering wheel can be hazardous as there is an air bag there with a device that blows it out when certain conditions occur. If you work on the steering wheel, remove the negative battery cable. Read through the threads where others have had the same issue and I'm sure you be a-honky tonkin' (clever eh?) before you know it.

Check these vids.

Default This procedure on Zip's website, is more efficient and quicker

In the search boxes, type in year model, then "horn membrane".
