Default POLL: Which of these tires for '03 Z

I'm in the market for new rubber for my '03 Z. I understand I have to go to a 275/40/17 on the front to open my choices and keep the 295/35/18 rear. I've been debating back and forth between grip and durability from which I understand you can have one but not the other. I drive my car A LOT in the spring/summer/fall months (6-7000 miles between march-november) so I need somewhat good durability because I don't want to replace tires every year. I also run the drag strip about 5-6 times a year. So I'd like a good cruising street tire with decent longevity that hooks on the drags.

The three tires I've been going back and forth on are the Continental ExtremeContact DW and the Nitto NT05's but from what I gather the Nitto's only last 10k if I'm lucky, and the Michelin PS2 which are practically DOUBLE the price of the others, which is definately a turnoff. Anyone have experience with either one?

I have the DW's on my Vette and PSS on my 05 GTO. Both are very good dry wet and grip. The Michelin's are alot more money though. Road noise very minimal on both.

I may get caught in an occasional summer rain storm, but if I'm home and it's raining it will sit. Just intake, exhaust, tune, and LT's at this point. so maybe 360-380?

I went with the Bridgestone Potenza re760 sports on my Z06 and I love them...I did one auto cross day on them and they offered plenty of grip around the track..been very pleased with them so far

The best all-around tire I have ever used is the Vredestein Sessanta. They will satisfy all your parameters at the most reasonable price you will find. Excellent in rain too, if you ever need it.

I was in the same boat as you are. Z06 size wheels so I was limited. I went the Continental ExtremeContact DW's and I'm pleased with them. Only a 3 Season driver here as well and so far no complaints !

The Conti DW's are nice for an all around tire! I run them on the front. I like something a little more sticky for the rear though

Continentals work great here in the Rockies! Price wise, they are "Big Bang for the buck".

I know the invos aren't in your choices but I highly recommend them. Awesome tire in rain if you get stuck and they stick really well.

yeah but the PS2's are $1600 while the Conti DW and Nitto NT05 are ~$850 .. thats a HUGE difference and can pay for more mods

My tire of choice on my C4 & C5 has been Kuhmo Ulta Hi Pro Summer compound tires, they tend to be a bit loud in cold weather, but in Ga. we have very little cold

I have 18x9.5 in the front and 19x10 in the rear. Never looked into stock sizes for my car.

just did some more research on the Conti DW and the rear tire height is 26.1" while the front 275's are 25.7". That's only .4", Will I have issues with TC/AH with these sizes?

should I run a 255/40/17 up front?
