Conversion from side mount to top mount battery terminals for 2001
Are the battery cables easily replaced to allow a conversion from side mount battery terminals to top mount battery terminals? Are the other end of the battery cables easy to reach for replacement?

2004 Covettes have a Top post battery, If you want OEM install without cutting/modifying anything you can replace the cables with new ones for a 2004 Vette. Shouldnt be that hard to do, simple hand tools a couple hours time.

The top mount terminals for the 2004 and the C6 are crap. The method of tightening is not something I would want on my lawnmower.
I don't like the side mount terminals because they make an easy path for leakage that is hard to see but at least the method to secure them is better.

Did the same engineer that developed the column lock recall develop this battery clamp? And make a bad situation worse?

I figured that the top mount would be the traditional clamp-but looking at the pictures-GM changed the clamp. Just how does this GM top clamp work? Is there a worm gear connected to the vertical bolt?

The clamp has to be squeezed against/around the post and then you tighten with a nut. Clever huh???
PS: Good one on the CL recall comment.

The Redtops use to be made in my town---in Aurora,Colorado. I was proud of that-until they laid off ~160 of their Aurora,Colorado workers and took production to Mexico. Not proud of them anymore.

HaHaHa!!! Worm gear? You give the GM battery engineers mystical power.

I just can't picture how a vertical bolt and nut will tighten the post band in a positive way. Never saw a bolt/nut arrangement that was vertical and not horizontal on a battery clamp arrangement-I don't think I have anyhow.
