Default Leaking coolant hose at coolant reservoir.

There is a coolant leak on my 2002 Corvette C5 Coupe. I located the leak at the bottom-front of the coolant reservoir. There is a steady flow where the hose is clamped to the reservoir. I removed the hose at this point, but was unable to find the cause of the leak The hose seems fine, except for the deep imprint in the rubber hose from the spring-type hose clamp. What can I do to fix this problem?

Might be better asked on the C5 forums but my first reaction is if the hose is ok and not cracked, perhaps the nipple on the reservoir is....

Or... hoses do harden with time and temperature and perhaps the overflow hose has lost its elasticity and can't seal?

Default Leaking Coolant hose between reservoir and waterpump.

I never replaced the hoses since purchasing in 2002. Loss of elasticity is quite possible. What if I cut back on the hose, behind the old clamped area and then re-clamped on a fresh area of hose?

Or just buy some new hose. It's not anything special, just rubber hose of the proper size diameter and length.

I would just buy some new hose and then see if it leaks. If it does, it most likely is a crack in the hose fitting on the tank as mentioned above.

all coolant hoses should all be replaced at 10 years, doing the water pump and radiator while you have it apart isn't a bad idea either

whole cooling system starts failing around 10-12yrs and or 80-120k miles

I have had to replace a tank for leaking in that area and a hose and clamp for leaking in that area.

could be a bad tank they are known to fail there

or

could be a bad hose or weak clamp.....

but after all this time you probably need new hoses and clamps anyway
