Need Advice On A New Battery
Yes I used the search, didn't find what I was looking for.
Saw the thread on the Optima battery. Yellow vs. Red.
I drive in the Summer only and store with a Ctek maintainer on in the Winter. I'm in Michigan so Winter is LOOOOOONG !!
I will probably go with the Ac Delco battery, (Which one did you install and why ???????)
Anything special I need to know about swapping old for new ??????
I don't seem to have the LOC display on the radio ????
Thanks for any help !!

I currently am running a Sears DieHard Platinum battery in mine. It took the place of an Optima Red Top that died right after the three year mark. Have had the DieHard in the car for 3.5 years and have been very happy with it.
As for the LOC on the radio, apparently you have not set the theft deterrent system on the radio yet. It is contained in your owners manual.

I also have the 'biggest' Die Hard, like Jack said. I've always had luck with this brand.
What ever brand you decide upon, get the biggest one you can. That meaning the most CCA, or cold cranking amps. C5 Corvette is famous for being hard on batteries.
Don't try to save a few bucks here, on a battery purchase. Smaller ones just won't hold up.
Good luck,
Don

I recently needed a new battery as well. See here.
Gone are the days of the AC Delco 6-year and 7-year warranty battery.
Among the AC Delco batteries at your local stealership, you will find the AC Delco Pro Silver which has a capacity of 590 CCA and a 30 month warranty; and the AC Delco Pro Gold with a capacity of 650 CCA and a 42 month warranty.
In retrospect, if I had my druthers, I should have got the AC Delco Pro Gold.
In fact, I recommend the AC Delco Pro Gold.
For additional info see here.
For some warranty information click on the link "Battery warranty* Information" highlighted in blue.
Good Luck, Stan.

Thanks for the replies !!!
Anybody got a code number for the Sears battery.
And
If the security isn't activated, then I shouldn't have to do anything other than take the old battery out and put the new one in...... correct?

Think I have a number....
Looks like a 675 CCA is the largest one.
Thought we needed 850 ???
Forgive me if that sounds dumb, I lay no claim to fame at being mechanically inclined !!! LOL

Listen, the sears computer system will recommend the wrong battery. When you tell them you have a C5, it tells you the wrong batt. Unless they have updated their system recently.
You tell them you want the 135 RC, with 850 CCA!!! It fits perfectly. The other one, actually slides around in the battery tray. It's too small in capacity, and physically, for our cars ( C5 ).
Also, when I got mine, the same battery was on sale at Sears.com, but not on sale in the store. When I told the manager of the store (auto section), she looked on line at Sears.com. She saw the sale price, and agreed to match it. It's worth looking at, before you go in, if you decide to go with the Die Hard Platinum.
You do not want the 'gold' battery. It's the biggest 'PLatinum' series, which has the 850 CCA, and fits C5 perfectly, which you want.
good luck, what ever you decide,
Don

I believe in the Beer Fairy
I recently went with the Sears Diehard Advanced Gold AGM. CCA is 775. Sears will tell you that spec for our car is group 75, but as learned on this forum, group 78 fits perfect and offers greater CCA.

If the one I have marked doesn't, I'll use the one you posted.
Now it looks like I'm working again this weekend so I may not be able to get it done.
I will post a follow up when I get the battery.
Thanks again to all who posted !!!!
Once again CF members come through when you need something !!!!!
