Travel and parking with Corvette
What do you do when you have to stay at a hotel and you drive your Corvette, lets say you are staying in Las Vegas(or anywhere not laid back like a small town), you book the hotel ahead of time, it's not a bad area, or you hope anyways.
You get there, and your car is going to be far away from your room.
I guess just hope for the best, what I do is just not take the Corvette, and go in the less fun car most of the time, which seems kinda a shame because Corvettes are fun.
This weekend I went with the woman I'm seeing and we took her "clears throat" V6 Mustang
Stayed at 3 different hotels, parked in a lot of parking garages(to go see the stuff like the water spray up, saw Ray Ramano and Kevin James), some of the parking spots were horrible.
Anyways, 2 out of the 3 rooms we stayed in, her car was out of sight, and pretty far away, but it's just a Mustang, so no worries! I'm teasing.
If it would have been my Corvette, I would have been anxious and go check on it once in a while (the rooms where the car was far away and out of sight), kinda silly seeing it's a old 1999 Corvette, it's still in pretty good shape though.
About 10 years ago I stayed overnight at a hotel in Hollywood(some of you may remember about me telling where the guy decided to push up and down on my hood/front of car while I was at a red light, same night) in the Corvette, it was wild, people partying all night, I expected my car to be messed up or even stolen, I was surprised to find it perfectly fine, but I did not sleep good.
Do you take your Corvette to places like this?

By the way I compared my 6 speed, still factory stock 1999 vert to her 2007 V6 Mustang using http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/Find....23133&id=14800, the Corvette gets a tad better MPG, but it also says it costs more per mile to operate, due to it taking premium fuel.

Usually not but I don't go to places like Vegas.
When I travel in my car it is for "car trips" like the Dragon, Blue Ridge Parkway, car shows/cruises. That kind of stuff I usually know exactly where I'm staying so I know I can trust my car being there for the most part. It is usually other car people or bike people and everybody kind of watches out for each other. I'm still paranoid but I have confidence compared to be being Vegas or something like that.

I do take my Vette on many trips. It's what I bought it for; to drive.
With that said, I feel anxious about parking sometimes. I just try to park next to nice vehicles, thinking they'll be as careful with my car as I will with theirs. Hopefully.
It's a bit of a risk. Life is that way.
But I'm not driving no V6 mustang (or in my case my wife's Camry), when I have a C5 Corvette to drive.
Take the risk, swallow hard, and enjoy your vette. These cars rock on the open road.
We're driving down to San Diego Friday, and not coming home til late Sunday. Be at a Corvette show Sunday, in a motel two nights. Focusing on a nice weekend trip. If anything happens to my car; I'll fix it.
It's not going to be a garage queen... It's too much fun to drive.

Sometimes the hotel will let you park up front in the portico.

I've taken mine on a few trips where I did have a restless night sleeping but thankfully nothing happened to the car.

Not to sound rude but that's what insurance is for. If it worries you that much then take the Mustang. Either way, make sure you get a good sleep. Life is too short to worry about the 'what ifs'.

I bought mine for trips!!! Hotels yeah they suck, covers? Well I usually come out to see the cover has been moved....everyone what's to know whats inside, plus inma vert with no center storage who has the room.
I love my car, baby her, take care of her, avoid pot holes, speed bumps, always covered in garage...but it is afterall just a car

And I think the C5 is an EXCELLENT road trip machine. I drove my '98 all the way down to Key West last year, out to St. Louis several times, as well as several other smaller trips and when I picked up my '04 this year I flew out to Dallas (where the car was), drove it to Houston, then to New Orleans (where I stayed literally a block of Bourbon St and I had to let a valet park it <GASP! The HORROR!, guess what... came back in one piece...>) and then stayed in Nashville, TN with it where I parked it right along with the "common" cars.... Nice thing about a vette; you don't have to worry about door dings and if it gets scratched? Fix it or forget about it. Your choice.

Many many road trips (Vegas, Reno, San Fran,Portland, L.A....etc.), just park decent and in a good spot and enjoy.

I'm with you; it IS just a car. Don't get me wrong, I love my '04 coupe, I take care of mine, keep it in a garage, keep it clean, take care of the maintenance on it, etc... but common... lets not fool ourselves here; most of our cars would be lucky to bring $20K in the real world (excluding some C5Zs, and even those aren't much more). It's not like we're driving $80K+ cars here.... That V6 Mustang mentioned above was probably worth more monetarily speaking than the Vette if it is a '13 or '14 model...

What the car is worth is irrelevant. It's annoying to anyone who works hard at keeping their car nice to see damage done to it.
Personally, I wouldn't take the car to Vegas. I've been there several times and I'd rather pay a few dollars for a cab where I need to go, or walk, than drive there. Especially since in most cases I'm in no shape to drive after a while anyway...but seriously the traffic insane.
I'd have no problem using the vette for a road trip. I drove mine back from St. Louis to NYC. Stopped in Terra Haute Indiana and then again in PA for bad weather. Wasn't too worried but I did park as far away from other cars as possible, which is what I normally do anyway.

These were not bad places, it's just in Vegas, people walk around with booze, and when some people drink, they might do something, even if not intended.
Oh, one funny thing, walking though the Forum Shops at Ceasar's, where the ceiling is all painted like a sky, a big cockroach went crawling by and a bunch of women started screaming and running away.

We use our '01Z06 for road trips as much as we can. Last year it was over 20,000 miles, a C-5 is a great road car. There was a lot of over nights on the road, and not one problem. We do try to stay in better places and watch where she is parked.
TGO next time you are in Terre Haute, check in with us, first one is on me!

Heh...it would have been nice to have a friend out there. The night I stopped I had a really hard time finding a hotel room. Everything was booked up because of some high school wrestling thing.
Come to think of it something similar happened on the way back from Indiana with my previous car too.

And I can agree with you on not driving it in Vegas, but that is simply because I wouldn't want to drive ANYTHING in Vegas. Or NYC for that matter. Cabs are the much better way to go there as mentioned. Each to their own on where you park in a parking lot, but I swear that a lot of times you actually bring out the REAL a$$holes when you park way out by yourself... it's like making your car a target for them...
