I am purchasing a 03 in florida w non runflats and driving back to nj. Is there a specific type of fix a flat that can be used that will not ruin the tire pressure sensors. would a 12v tire inflator work to fill the tire should i get a flat? Any help as to how others deal w non runflats/ on c5 short of calling aaa...
Thanks

I run non-runflats on my car and carry a plug kit, air compressor, and have emergency road service on my car insurance policy. I also carry a cell phone with me at all times.

Both Slime and Fix a Flat brands claim to be sensor safe. They might just get you out of a jamb and to the nearest service center.

Me too. The little compressors may take 10 minutes or so to fill up the tire, but they allowed me to fill it enough to drive further. (stop and repeat if needed)

I have never like the fix a flat cans. I spent a long time getting that stuff off the inside of a rim when I took off a tire on a C4 I had. It dried on and was nasty to get clean. It was thick enough that I wondered about balancing.

Tire sealer/inflators have saved me a few times on my other vehicles without any problems. Got me to a service station where my tires were permanently patched. I wouldn't leave home without a can in the trunk. I carry a can along with a jack, compressor and plug kit to cover every situation. If I had to, I would not hesitate to use a can of sealer on the Vette. The key is to get the tire fixed as soon as possible.

GM has been charging extra for a spare tire in many of their vehicles for a while now. If you decide to not pay for the option they give you a can of sensor safe fix a flat and a portable inflator.

Sensors are not that expensive anyway. Best to get yourself out of a bad situation as soon as possible and if a can of sealer does the trick, go for it.

GM sells a Inflation kit, as do many OEM's. BMW has a nice inflation kit in a nice little bag.

You can put your own together for a lot less money.

So what do I tell the dealer to get this free option?

Because they don't have spares and it's a way to sell the customer another tire when he ruins it by driving on it when it's flat. Money is no object for C7 owners. Run flats are for owners that have zero mechanical skills.
