Audio system install.
Looking at some pictures in the forum, I see some have changed out their head unit, and I am wondering how difficult a job that is, or would be.
Love my "new" C5, but the stock system, although it sounds great, has no hookup for my mp3 player.
I have a jvc head unit I installed in my classic Tbird a year ago, and I am getting ready to sell the Tbird, and today I measured that unit, and it would fit perfectly where the cigarette lighter and that small compartment next to it are , just under the ac controls.
How much of a job would it be to install the head unit there, and hook it up to the existing speakers?
Also, I would need to connect the wire that raises and lowers the antenna.
Because the Tbird didn't need all the wiring that came with the unit, I only used the speaker wires, ground wire, and hot wire when I installed the head unit in the Tbird.
It is an expensive unit, and rather than keep it in a car I am going to sell, I would really like to put it into the Corvette.
Using that head unit means I can leave the stock one where it is, but the wiring is what really concerns me.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Just pull the stock unit and replace it with the jvc. Decks aren't made to go in that bottom slot. Two of the screws that hold the bezel in place are in that bottom slot. I'd leave it alone. You'll need an adapter to use an aftermarket stereo and keep the oem speakers.

Unless you get an integration harness...remember the speakers are amped.
Good luck.
