Vredestein tires
Does anyone know of or bought Vredestein tires? Looking for new tires this summer and I saw these, somewhere, and just wondering if there any good or not?

I'm running these on my C5 with TSW Interlagos....they're AMAZING!!!! Blowout the Pilot Sports I had before thus far. I only have 5K miles on them now, but I LOVE them. They're OBVIOUSLY better than the Michelins in the rain. Not sure about dry or long term use yet, and I haven't tested them on the track, but a sponsor with a 900+HP SRT8 says they're very good.
I got them from Group A wheels in Long Island NY, DIRT cheap price. They're very professional, and have the lowest prices in the US. They said that they were the main importers of them.
I'm a diehard Michelin Man, but I love, LOVE these Vredsteins

Just on a cursory 5 minute google search, they don't look real cheap to me. Other than that, I know nothing about them. Might consder them if they were much cheaper than stuff I was more familiar with.

They are great tires, especially in the wet, and they don't lose traction in the cold like the Michelins did.
Handled the AutoX at Carlisle last year real well, even better at Pocono a few weeks ago. A number of people here have them and swear by them. In fact, I'm surprised Striper hasn't chimed in by now.

Have them mounted on my HRE wheels. Great tire in my opinion.
Handles really well in the wet and dry and the tread pattern looks pretty cool too for what its worth.
My only complaint is that it comes in limited sizes. I couldn't get the proper front to rear ratio and it seems my active handling doesn't like it. It's disabled itself for some time now....
After I roast the rear tires, I need to find something a little wider and taller.

old tires, old tech
would never consider them for a car i actually cared about
if possible you want to try and buy tires designed within the last few years. compounds keep getting better
for stock wheels the hankook v12 would get my vote for a cruiser tire or the bridgestone re11 if you want something to carry more speed in corners and do HPDE days
for z06 wheels no good choices exist unless you go outside the stock 295/265 combo

I just wished that they made a 305 series or 315 in a regular Z rated tire for the stock rears. I only see those sizes for DR's and or track tires.

I examined all kinds of configurations. I've seen some people go with a 30 series to get the width but then the stagger is way off. The 305/315's I saw leaned too far towards track use, and mine's a DD. The ratio on mine is .1" below the limit, and so far the nanny is working fine.

Here you go, Chas. I have had PS2's on my car. They cost me about 1400 for a set. Based on other opinions I decided to go look at the Vredesteins. I drove to their U.S. HQ in New Jersey to see them in person before I bought them. I was shown a German magazine comparison with eight other top brand tires. The Vreds were rated #1, outstanding in rain especially. That might not matter to you, but in my experience they are fantastic. I run 18" front and rear and I paid $830 shipped to my door from L.A. Fairmount Tire. Speak to Brad. They are wearing great. I do alot of mileage on mine. They've been on at least 2 years and I'm sure I'm going to get another year easily. They are quiet, ride great, and handle excellently. I can think of nothing I don't like about them. I just don't know why they are not more popular, they are worth every penny.

Melting Slicks
They were pretty popular a few years ago in the Import world until people started shredding them. I am wondering if things have gotten better quality wise in the past few years.

you blew one at 125, that's scary, as you mention they have been shredded on other cars
if we're talking z06 wheels and this tire, the conti DW comes in the same 295/275 and is a quick rain tire & tests similar to the ps2. doesn't have the steering response of the ps2 but the soft sidewall may be a + for some
there's also the nt05 in 295/275 just like the vred
the vred is an OLD design, and i mean really old design.

Slow day at work, so I'm doing some tire shopping online. I can get some Nitto NT05's shipped to my door for $764 if I go slightly wider on the front than stock Z06 tires. If I go Slightly narrower on the front, the price drops to $712. I can get some Extreme Contact DW's that are ~ Z06 size for $824. I can get some V12 Ventus for $714.
These tires don't seem like that great of a deal.
