Best slotted rotors and pads
I'm looking to replace my old rotors and pads with a set of slotted rotors and pads for my C5. What's the best besides spending $4,000.00
Any information is appreciated.
Thanks !!

For a quality street pads, take a look at the Carbotech 1521 pad.
Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

Burning Brakes
Check out my version of a budget bigger brake kit. I'm extremely happy with the results both performance-wise and aesthetically.

This is what I did this spring. Baer decelarotors with Hawk ceramic pads, powder coated calipers and stainless steel lines. Not the best picture but hopefully you will get the idea. Spent about $1100.

Melting Slicks
I put Baer Declearotors on in 2006. They still work great and function great too.

I opened a thread on my brakes rebuild here:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-z...good-ones.html
A copy of the original post here:
I went ahead and decided to change myself the 4 Brake Discs and add in the process the Carbotech 1521 Brake pads.
The front rotors are the Performance Friction Z rated two pieces.
The weight is 18.22 LBS versus the OEM Z06 20 Lbs...nice weight saving.
The rear are the Brembo Cross drilled...
The weight is 14 LBS versus the OEM Z06 15 Lbs...another nice weight saving.
UPDATE AFTER BEDDING IN COMPLETED (05/14/2014):
I had some time to proceed...drove the car to my friend private road, and started the bedding in process, for discs and pads.
In the pictures below, the brakes have 4 hard braking zones in a row from 145 mph down to 45 mph almost always on the limit of the ABS on and off.
The brake pads are the ceramic "Bobcat" Carbotech 1521 from Amp'D Autosport.
Before my comments, the pictures:
The final result is at least very surprising...positively surprising:
- No dust
- No fading
- Constant pedal
- No noise
- No vibration
- The initial bite is close to the OEM Z06 brake pads (The ones that are making your rims black in 2 braking zones) but still not at road course intense level or use.
- The stopping power...is better than the best OEM Z06 brakes I ever tried in any condition...!!!
I cannot be more glad of my decisions and the options I decided...for my application!!!

Burning Brakes
Hi John, Nice setup and looks good. I have a question since I just put my CCW wheels on I'm looking to do the same thing to fill up the wheel space. With this set up your wheels clear the calibers no problem. It does not push them out further. Correct because my SP500 are really close to my calibers. I read where some guys shaved there calibers or used spacers. Thanks for the info

My setup, well worth the cash and new appearance. These rotors look amazing behind my CCW's.
