It's amazing how scary fast these cars are when Supercharged!

the trick is not how much power you can make but how well you can put that power to the pavement! That first 60 feet AND being able to actually shift a car - usually determines the faster car ... I know ... EVERYONE with a stick corvette, knows how to shift. I see it at the track all the time
BTW - N/A cars use air and fuel also

It sure makes things happen fast. I have driven a lot of 400-500rwhp cars over the years, but like you say, once you hold that throttle down, things get hairy FAST
I have gauges to watch boost, afr and my little LED to see if the alky is flowing, but once I hit it and it starts getting squirrely, I can't even FIND the gauges.
***Waiting on boost to build??? With a 3500 stall, 10.7cr and a 3.1" pulley, not much waiting

street cars at that power level get kind of nutty regardless of the chassis they are in, at least a chassis us little people can afford.
traction becomes a major problem, so does tinkering with the suspension so it's stiff enough to control motion but not so stuff you lose contact with the road
you look back at some of the real hot rods in racing like group c cars and hell, those even had less power than many street cars today. a peugeot 905 had something like 640hp and the downforce on many of the group c cars exceeded 7000lbs and of course they were on slicks so soft you could pick up absolutely anything they ran over.
that same 640hp in a street car and it's no wonder they are hard to handle if you truly try and drive one at the limit
personally i'm going to look into a formula ford if i pony up to race again, either that or a circle track dirt car

can be had for obviously the listed price, some sell for less, like i suspect this one might.
or, if you can spend more

check that out, 475hp in a 1100lb car with slicks and meaningful downforce. that's a neck snapper for $50 grand
i like corvette as a street car but they just get expensive to mod and have limitations

This is my idea of a race "car"
No Limit Engineering '67 C10 Hellboy.
It's not just fast, it's Good Guys Autocross champ (against mostly cars).
<edit> It's NA, too.

Because I don't drive my car often when I do take it out 600 to the wheels still puts a tingle in the nuts. It is scary fast. I have taken people out who always tell me about someone elses car and after a ride their usually in awe. Funny thing is I like to look over and right around 3500rpms they usually are grabbing everything in the car to hold on.

I used to be in the NA crowd poo-pooing the FI side saying how wonderful all my bolt-ons and head/cam work was.......UNTIL!

Supercharged ??????
Some know about how INSANE these cars are when boosted. But there are far more who have NO CLUE what happens when the RPM climbs above 3500rpm and the acceleration just get's more intense and crazy.
It still thrills me to no end. Normally I don't even get into boost just driving normally and shifting well before that 3500rpm range. It's when I occasionally let the pedal stay on the floor and don't shift until 6000rpm that it get's INSANE!
Follow me? Most of us boosted vettes live in a different world. But how many of you regular Vette drivers want to get boosted?
And have you ever driven one?

It is unbelievable if you've never driven a SC anything. I have 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with an Eaton M-90 self-lubricating supercharger. And I've always serviced everything on it's due date, had the supercharger oil sucked out and new fluid put back in. But out on the PA turnpike and your right foot goes a little heavy on the go pedal and it never amazes me what 8-9 pounds of boost will do to my little 3800 V6. This in a close to two ton vehicle and it feels like a V8 pulling like a locomotive. I've had it up to 115 and said that's more than this W platform was ever intended for.
But if you want the best, I still have to nod to the supercharger over the turbo. I'm not sure of why, maybe it was the turbo lag, but the SC just opens and all H&^L breaks loose. Just my $0.02 Scary . . .

I break my tires loose when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd at 85 mph on the hwy. A well preped track with tire is really the place to see just what you can do with these things
Heads / cam LS-6 naturally aspirated - enjoy!
I do like supercharged vettes but have not driven one.

Mine is NA 460rwhp...it's still fun as hell. Plus, I get the sound that no "basically stock" car with a supercharger can replicate. It rumbles and rocks at idle with the lopey cam.
Oh yeah, I'd love a supercharger too! That'll be next, after all of the body/paint and interior mods that are coming.
Can't wait.

I've never driven a supercharged Vette, but you bet I would like to put a S/C on mine. Only problem is I would also like a C7 in a couple of years so I am reluctant to spend that much money on my C5 when it could go towards the C7. But who knows, things could change and I might end up keeping the C5 and if I do, a S/C could be in the future.
