Little Old Lady in a Caddy
Well, she backed her Caddy into my right front corner at the gas station!!!!
The only visible damage is a crack about three inches long that radiates downward from the rear corner of the turn signal opening.
Can this be repaired or should I just figure on them replacing the whole nose piece? I have a very good body shop I like to use, but am out of town at the moment so I thought I would try for some feedback from you guys.

It it were me, I would push for a new nose piece for the car. I had a much smaller crack (about 1") in the front fascia on one of my C5s and the body shop I used repaired it to where you could not tell it was ever damaged. But I'm not sure how difficult it would be for a 3" crack and how well it would hold up over time.
The key is to talk to your body shop and see what they say and whether they will give a lifetime warranty on the repair to the crack.

It can be repaired, however it would likely cost less to find a replacement nose piece. It's a 40 minute job to replace and align. If you happen to find one in the correct color, you'll be one up on the fix.

When I bought my car the PO had hit a raccoon and the nose had a crack around the place where the plate goes. I took the car to one of my old buddies that does body work, and he told me what to buy to repair the crack. I don't remember what the stuff was called, but it was a 2 part epoxy with some stainless screen for backing. I used it like Bill told me and it is still holding up very well. It may very well be stronger now that it was before. If you end up doing the repair yourself, just make sure the area to repair is very clean and sanded so the patch can adhere correctly.

Whether you get a new piece (which you should) or repair the old make sure the body shop that does the paint does it correctly. Both on the front and back bumpers there is supposed to be a flex agent included in the paint. If it is not in the paint the slightest bump will cause the paint to spider web which looks terrible. It is cliche but "ask me how I know".

Very frustrating for you, I'm sure.
Hope the fix, is not too difficult. Damn!

Accidents happen with old people thats why they sell insurance and Depends… at least it doesn't sound like it was all too bad. Sounds like it could be repaired but depends on the shop and the adjuster. They will probably write it up for a new piece though. Paint match is where they tend to slack sometime so you really need to make sure they take their time and get it right.

Yeah, we exchanged info and all. While we were doing this, one of the local cops that was off duty stopped and asked if we had called it in yet. I told him no, since it was private property and I had her info, no sense in her getting a ticket on top of it all.
She was very apologetic and didn't try to get out of it at all. Little old farm wife on an oxygen bottle.......I really couldn't get mad and yell at her or anything. She had a good, current insurance card with a local agent, so it should be fine.
Her young teen granddaughter was with her and jumped out to check the damage as soon as it happened. She was bummed about the 'Vette, but I think she was really worried about her grandma too. One look at her scared and worried face calmed me right down!!
In the grand scheme of things..........15 year old car with a minor crack.......scared kid and shaken up grandma............somehow, the car just doesn't seem so very important now.
