Default Saw a 98 Vert for sale...Contemplating ???

98 Vert, Torch Red, BSM's, standard seats, CD Player,
Electronic Climate Control, Chrome Wagon Wheels, fairly new Goodyear Run Flats, paint in awesome condition, has 51k on the clock, one owner. Top was down so I didn't get to check out it's condition but from looking at the rest of the car I would imagine it's in great shape! Now I know from all of the help here that issues ($$$$$) that arise in these early models are Steering Position Sensors, sky high priced TPMS's and EBCM's. He asking $19.5 OBO.
What do you guys think ? I didn't take it for a test drive yet.
If I decide to go for it, I'd hit him with $17.5 and haggle from there.

I would move on and find a 2001 or newer with all the improvements for that kind of money.

Don't do it, my 99 vert was half that. Like was said for that money move up to an 01 or better. And don't worry about mileage all that much, these engines are bulletproof as you must know.

Paid $9700 for my '98 last fall with 63,000 miles. It is nice shape, sport seats, manual climate control.

I paid $22k for my 2003 Z06 in pretty much pristine condition, with awesome engine mods (460rwhp NA) and 29k miles on it (3 years ago). It's been flawless.

There are better deals out there if you take your time.

Hit him for less as an opener. I bought my 2000 three years ago for just under 16K. Mine had 89,000 on the speedo and has 106 on it now. I have invested about 5K in it since purchase for new top and weatherstrip, new leather seat covers and foam, new pads and rotors all around, differential, shocks, coolant recovery tank and all hoses, water pump and power steering pump, serpentine belt and Katech billet tensioner and all new stainless braided flex brake lines as well as a set of Sumitomo tires.

I believe 19.5 K for a 98 is high. And you don't get HUD with it.

My friend just paid less than that for an 02 z with the same miles. Granted his 02 with 50k miles was far worse off than my 01 with now 76k miles. I'm sure he would trade 50k miles to have his car in mines condition.

I don't know way i look at these threads. Why not ask the guy if you could have it for a song and dance. Might as well scrap the early cars!!! I agree his asking price high but some of the comments made are of base also. Don't get mad, just my opinion.

Sounds like a nice '98, but it is priced too high IMO. Maybe $15K, but not what he is asking.

agree with the thread, don't buy it, get an 01+ for the money you're looking to spend

at 17k you could get an 04 with 80-90k miles and have the best c5 of them all

as long as the cars haven't been beat on or tracked frequently mileage isn't a big deal, age is

These are CORVETTES not some grocery getters! Cars that are a luxury purchase that have value above most mass produced utilitarian cars and should be valued as such.
(Would be curious what most that commented on thread will be selling their Corvette's for when time comes?!)
