Default The Holy Grail of . . .

. . . hoods. The MCM.

I am so fortunate to have found - and more specifically - been able to buy an original, mint, non-S/C MCM hood from a member here. What a totally lucky happenstance - I must be livin' right!

PO left the underside CF exposed so I will also leave it exposed when I paint the hood to match my TR coupe.

This is part of a bigger project that's ongoing but it will be the crowning glory to the rest of the additions.

I mean - seriously - it doesn't get any better than this.

Congrats on your purchase! I was lucky, mine came with it when I bought it. I had no idea how rare, and how special these hoods are. However, here is a link others may want to check out:

They claim they have MCM hoods. I wouldn't know, never been there, but they look by the pictures to be the right ones.

Nice catch...
My Mallett hood was built by MCM. The fit is great and you gotta love the look. The are very close in appearance with a few minor differences around the intake. Here it is on my TR.

Congrats on the coveted find Patches! You deserve it. I am the third owner of mine. Previous owner advertised it as a Tigershark hood. Lucky me. Your hood looks so gorgeous just posted up in the garage

Are MCM hoods not in production anymore?

I've had my MCM hood for years. Saw it at VetteFest and decided to to buy one. It's held up very well.

Great find Patches. I sure miss the one I had on my '00, but when I sold the car, it went with it. Sure didn't think at the time that I would get another C5 a little over a year later. Should have kept the MCM hood and sold the car with the stock one on it.

Thanks, guys! Great looking Vettes!

I was bantering back and forth with ET about MCM while waiting for it to arrive and he revealed a lot of very interesting details about MCM and it's original designers/creators. Unfortunately, the company was dissolved (the owner passed away) so these hoods went out of production a few years ago. There are reproductions on the market but they are not structurally equivalent to the original MCM hoods. Only ~1300 total MCM hoods were made so these are rare as hen's teeth and almost never come up for sale, which is why I'm thrilled to have this one.

A lot of nice hood options out there but this is the only one I wanted to swap out my stocker for.
