hey guys, im new to the forum, thought id make a thread with my question and an intro at the same time if thats cool lol... Names Dave, live about 10 miles from Albany ny, have some cool toys, a 93 viper, a 68 mustang, an 88 mustang gt, an infiniti g37xs and of course a corvette, a 98 c5 auto vert.....

Soo i bought the vette recently and its torch red........... with maroon interior which imo is horrible... I already bought black seats for it and am in search for a black carpet and door panels, but was told red/red combo is rare and im stupid for changing it?

Can someone please verify this is wrong so i can continue or school me on how this is desireable?

If by maroon you're referring to firethorn then yes it's pretty rare. But my opinion is that it's rare for a reason I personally don't like it either.

Did you get a good deal on the car to overlook the unattractive interior?

Wow, that would be an odd combo - both nice colors but do not belong together. If the Firethorn pieces are in good shape, they may be worth something to someone with a silver, white, or black 'Vette.

cars currently at the shop getting some work done, but heres a few pics that you can kind of see the interior... and id like the think i got a great deal.. it has almost 120k miles on it, but i only paid 7700... bought to throw an A&A supercharger on it and weekend drive/track it, but would like to have a semi decent looking car first and the interior is extremely bothersome haha... cars stock now aside from powdercoated oem wheels and an slp loudmouth exhaust.

Wow! I've never seen that combo before. I think the seats are the original stock, non-sport seats. You can probably find some nice used black carpet and seat skins as they are relatively common. What color top does it have?

black top.. and i just scored these two days ago for $220 for both!

as far as carpet goes, as far as i know the vert carpet is different from the coupe carpet and surprisingly finding black vert carpet is hard enough to find and even harder to find cheap.. Thought id pay $100-150, people want $500 which I can get brand new oem quality carpet never used for even cheaper :/

Can you dye the carpet? I can't say whether it's feasible or reasonable - but just a thought. Good luck.

Duplicolor makes a carpet paint/dye. I was skeptical but it's all in the prep work. Here's the front right carpet to my Volvo. I went from tan to black.

Looks like you got a steal and almost 1/2 price of similar cars with the same mileage.,.Firethorn red interior was RPO 943 and although rare it was available with a Torch Red exterior but it goes together like oil and water IMO
