C7 OEM hood vent insert in an OEM C5 hood
OK, thinking a little outside the box but probably not the first one to think it. Anyone considered trying to retrofit the OEM C7 hood vent insert into an OEM C5 hood? Just an idea...could be worth exploring.

with enough fiberglass and filler one could make anything work I suppose but I don't think it would look very good since the raised cowl part of the hood on the C7 is flat and our C5's is not but thats just my opinion. We have the line down the center dividing the raised cowl portion of our hoods. But hey I'd sure like to see someone try it.

If you're looking for functional heat extraction louvres talk to John at Trackspec Motorsports. They make 2 different designs for the C5 even though they're not posted on his website.

Do you have any pictures or could you describe these different designs? I've been looking for a good functional heat extractor option for awhile now and still have't come across the perfect solution yet, as I like the stock hood and don't really want to have to go to a drastically different design just to accommodate vents.

Left a message on their facebook page and emailing him to see what he sends pic wise. Sounds promising. Another member is using their extractor inserts on his "budget track build" in another thread on here and it looks promising. Curious about the pricing and whether they will be fesible or not.

Just throwing in my .02, the C7 hood works extremely well with extracting the heat due to the overall design of the front nose. They've even tilted the radiator forward to better increase the airflow through it. Unless you're going to be drastically changing the airflow dynamics within the engine bay, I would go with an MCM or Tigershark.
