Default My Corvette does not ell easily!

Hi!
I have owned my 2000 C5 for three months. Love it!!! It only has 38K on it and looks like it has never been driven! I noticed immediately after driving it a little that it does not roll easily at a stop light or on a small incline?! I have never had a manual shift car that did that. It almost feels like the emergency brake has not released totally? Any of
you out there had the same experience?
Thanks, Covet My Vette

If on an incline and no brakes (either disc or emergency) are on, the car should roll with the clutch pushed down. Perhaps you have a sticking caliper or the emergency brake is adjusted incorrectly. If there is no incline, then the car most likely will not roll forward or backwards.

Some basic things to look at first.

While parked in neutral and parking brake off, can you easily push the car back and forth on a level surface? Shouldn't take much to get it rolling and have it roll a little after you stop pushing.

Go out and drive it for a while, bring it back and park it. Try to use the brakes minimally while you are pulling up to the place you're going to park at. Get out and either take the temp of the rotors on the front and back, plus the rotot hats on the back with a non-contact thermometer or just quickly feel them with your finger tips (can be very hot so make it quick and gentle or wear thin gloves). If any one feels significantly warmer than the others that one may be dragging.

At a standing stop in neutral, does it go into gear easily right after you push the clutch in? If not, one of the reasons could be a dragging clutch.

If all of the above is good, put the car on a 2-post lift in neutral, no parking brake. Rotate the wheels to see if any are dragging or hard/harder to turn.

Just use a bottle jack and check each wheel up off the ground, for any resistance. Real easy to isolate the problem that way. You can compare an easy turning wheel to a hard one and pretty much figure it out.

Just stop on a incline somewhere and put it in neutral and see if it will roll.

Need to get both rear tires up at the same time or you will have to exert a lot of force to rotate one wheel due to positraction.
