Default Parking Lot Protection

Just bought my son a C5 for his sweet sixteen. He loves the car but now I find he is worried about the possibility of some kids being jealous at school and keying his car in the parking lot. Any tips on how to avoid that and ease his mind? All suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Sweet looking ride - Not sure there is anyway to control the behaviors of others...

Keep the car at home. A 16 year old needs 3 things in a car; Big, Slow, and Ugly.
I've never met a teenager mature enough to handle the responsibility of a Sports Car. And it is a responsibility. Not a toy.
Best of luck.

Nice looking car!

No easy solution to prevent action of others.

Off the cuff;

Don't bring the car to school.

Weekend driver.

Tie a big a$$ dog close to the car.

Hire a security guard.

Really; it's hard enough to keep our kids safe at school.

Good luck.

16 huh? Have him leave the Corvette at home in the garage and ride his bike to school. Or he can hire a security guard to watch over the car while he is attending classes, although that would probably really deplete his weekly allowance.

I asked my dad for a car when I turned 16 and he told me to go out and get a job. Can't believe you bought him a C5 and not a C7. What kind of parent are you?

Nice clean Vette.Best solution is to buy him a beater for school.Surely a used Honda or Toyota will fit your budget. He can impress the girls with his charm and other good qualities instead of using the fancy Corvette.Any girl interested in him because he has the Vette is not the kind you want him around. You can bet if he drives that to school it will get messed with unless all the kids have sports cars.My 1st car was a beat up 56 Chevy that i mowed a ton of lawns to earn the 75 bucks it cost.Yes it was a clunker but felt like a Vette to me.

get a commuter like an old Honda. Dependable, cheap to maintain and peace of mind and enjoy the Vette on the weekends

Unfortunately there is really no way to tell. I think a lot of it depends on his personality. I had a 3000gt in high school and while it wasn't a corvette it was still a nice car compared to others and no one bothered me but I kept to myself for the most part.
I know when I pass my local high school there are always nice cars in the parking lot, usually in the way back.

I gave my son my old 94 bonneville SLE, with 153k on it, he took it to 226k before the master cylinder went.

My daughter who was six years younger got a true MB300 tank, ran well.
Never worried about either kid. If you are worried, think twice!!!!!!!

You should not be worried about the car getting keyed, but you should be worried about him keeping it out of the ditch.

So nobody ever had a corvette in high school in the 50's-80's or just jealous because you didn't have one? My dads first car when he was 17 was a 66 440 Coronet and his friend had a 66 Corvette. its not unheard of for a high school kid to have a corvette. Believe it or not but some kids are mature enough to have a car like this. But back to the OP there isn't much you can do. Maybe a car cover to hide it lol.

I drove a 350z to school every single day. Granted I bought it, and it's not a corvette, but I was responsible with that car.
