Tired of the Z's Black interior? Paint It!
Well I recently picked up a Black/Black C5Z and man I do love it, but the inside is quite boring in my opinion. I did test drive a mod red one, and like certain parts of it, but it was too much red.
So I did a little of both. Two days of taping, prepping, and vinyl dye/paint she is done.
Here are a few pics. I did the mod red style door lower panels and knee panels. Also did a charcoal grey on the center console, and door handle accents.
Thought I would share. I think it has just enough red to emphasize the Z06, and made it unique with the grey
Please excuse the dirtiness of the rest of the vehicle

Just wear a Mr. Goodwrench shirt when you drive, and you are all set.

List of products used?
I was going to do this as well before with SEM products but I ran into a complete set of mint mod red interior parts for my Z06. Many people reported any little scuff or scratch will ruin the finish on dyed parts. Let us know how it holds up.

Even if it does scratch, I can pull the door panels for a touchup in less than 5 minutes. For the cost, no brainer for me.

I really like what you did with the red, But in my opinion the gray took it over the top. Way to busy for me. Radio bezel looks premiered.

I had similar reservations with the grey decision. I might redo them is a more metallic glossy finish, but when your sitting in it, the grey really looks far from primer due to the underlying texture, if that was the connection your making.

Duplicolor makes great products. I also did the seats and so far I'm very happy with the outcome. Good job with your interior. I want todo my center piece as well but thinking of doing gloss black.

I applaud your effort to get creative, but I'm not feelin' the love on the color choice(s).

Looks nice man! The more I think about it all, the more I will probably end up changing the grey, who knows

I have no doubt it isnt nearly as robust as the real thing, but the mod red parts seem difficult and expensive to get. I cleaned each panel, wipedown with isopropyl alcohol, then 3 coats of adhesion promoter, then 6-8 light coats vinyl paint. All duplicolor product.

it's a no brainer.
Just don't spray real leather.

That red looks good.
IMO those radio bezels almost never look good no matter what people do to them.
What might work for you would be to do the door handle and radio bezels in bright silver to match your shift ****. Then maybe add the silver gauge bezels and maybe a few other silver or brushed metal accents to match. That's what I've been thinking of doing in my car, but I can't decide.

Red good; gray bad. Good thing you left the seats alone. You can always get them recovered in better leather in whatever color combo. It'll cost ya, but if you want color change on seat leather; don't be cheap.
