Any ideas/thoughts? When I move the ignition switch to the "on" position, the tach. and speedometer peg out and then return to to zero. I thought that I read an article stating that the LMC5 fixes this but I'm not sure. I do have anLMC5 unit on it's way.

And the DIC sweeps one way and then the other spelling out "Corvette...by Chevrolet." I LOVE it. (In case I forget that I climbed into the 'vette instead of the Avalon.)

Fact is most folks let it sweep before they start the car.

Actually no, not all analog gauges do a sweep on startup. This was a feature that was added to the C5 during its design. Having pure analog gauges was important to the C5 designers and the sweeping feature was added as an enhancement along with UV black lighting and floating gauge appearance at night.
Interesting tidbit: Most airplanes have analog gauges that sweep. This helps ensure that the gauges work throughout their range and are not sticking. I guess it's extremely important to know this prior to take off. Not so much with a car, but it is a cool feature.
