Default LMC5 Gremlins

Just installed the LMC5 about 2 weeks ago as a preventive measure. Prior to install I had no problems with Service Column Lock or Remove Key - 10 sec alarms. Today I started the car and twice got the Remove Key - Wait 10 seconds and the fuel appeared to cut off as the car stalled. Pulled out the key - waited a few seconds and restarted with no problems. The car had been started several times prior to this afternoon with no issues so now I'm really puzzled. Is it time for a call to Compliance?

Just a thought.....Did you install the brown wire then cut the other brown wire loop? The instructions are on the second page of the LMC5 install manual.

I did not - is that the next step? I sure hate pushing this old body under the dash any more than I need to.

Richard at Compliance just returned my e-mail - less than an hour. Looks like I'm back under the dash for the brown wire change. :roll eyes:

It could be worse...

I get the random "pull key, wait 10 seconds" thing too. Never had it before the LMC5. Sounds like I probably need to do the brown wire thing as well.

What year is yours?

I had an issue and it was my install. I assumed I needed to do the brown wire (I didn't, but it isn't an issue that I did) as well after the initial install, so I did only to still have the issue.

I called Richard and he walked me through step by step, found where I put the wire in the wrong hole (mine had a space since I don't have a vert and I put the wrong wire in the wrong hole ) and got me rolling.

I wish there were more products I could buy from Richard. He was awesome and didn't even make me feel stupid.

I had the same problem, recently posted about it in another thread. The brown wire fix fixed it for me (so far). According to Richard, this affects about 1 in 200 C5's and there should be no more issues.

And according to Richard I didn't do any harm with my wiring or doing the brown wire even though it may not have been needed.

In the instructions there is a paragraph on the second page that mentions installing the brown wire then cutting the other brown wire loop?

I won't get to it until Sunday - I'll let you know how it works. No problems since last Monday on the Pull Key issue.

You need need to remove the K-Harness first - then it should work fine.

I installed my LMC5 several months ago and I keep getting the annoying pull key wait 10 secs also. I only did it as a preventative measure. However, when I had my car tuned I had the fuel cut off limit raised so I would never have to worry about that issue.

I had no idea there was a 5 wire LMC5 but I see that you are still having issues. Mine is perfectly fine other than the annoying message. Crazy stuff indeed. lolz

There is no reason for the LMC5 to not work correctly. There are 3 different LMC5 so one of these should fix the problem. Anyone with a LMC5 question should call Richard at Compliance. He is one of the most helpful vendor on this site.
