I still wish they would have done the Barracuda rather than the Challenger because the body lines were way better. But my '71 Cuda was only good in a straight line, too.

Advanced traction control systems are what allows the power to be useful in these new cars. Of course better tires are needed but you can only expect so much from the factory.
I do think it's a hideous heavy turd. Even if my car was making half the power it would absolutely rape it. Same goes for all these would be muscle cars as of late. Heck I have as much whp from a mild H/C build in my 99 as a new CTS-V. And way WAY lighter.
To each their own. But what a waste of money if you ask me. Just like the Viper. Big engine, worthless car. It's not that good on any kind of track or strip.

This type of mindset and arrogance is why it's so fun to have a car that can easily outrun cocky Corvette owners. I went to a track day awhile back where the "Corvette Club" was also attending. Most of their cars were stock, but it was extremely entertaining to outrun them in a big four door sedan. It left them rather confused and was quite fun

Since then I have a nitrous kit. So there's quite a difference. But anyways, I hope you aren't getting too upset. It's just the forum and it's all in good fun. Everyone has a right to their opinion.

I'm not mad, I just think it's funny you have this attitude. Your car in Houston would be considered flat out slow. I guess everything is relative. Have fun out there

An exec brought one to the hotel on Friday night before Woodward cruise. He took some people for a ride and was really hanging it out down the side street. He said it was easy to drive and hang the rear out with the suspension and tire package on it. But on the flip-side of that, the stock tire package really didn't have much hope of hooking that power. Still, overall it's a pretty cool car.
Last weekend I ran into a guy with a KB supercharger on a Challenger he claimed was making around 650hp and he was wrinkling the quarter panels running DR's on the street. It made me wonder what extra bracing they had to put into the hellcat. I also wouldn't have expected that much extra chassis/body flex in a >4000lb RWD sedan when adding a couple of 100hp.

I really like the Challengers and think that they are one of the best retro looking muscle cars.
Could not see paying what they are charging for the Hellcat. Would buy a C7 first.
The reason I say this is that the Hellcat is simply not practical. It would not be a good daily driver and that is the one thing that makes the Challenger such a good muscle car. Rides well, practical, and can double as a multi seat driver's car. Would rather have the SRT. More practical and still very fun!
That being said I still would rather have a Corvette. But I do not need a multi passenger seat car on a regular basis. Can certainly see a guy with kids still at home getting a nice Challenger instead of a Corvette.

I don't know why anyone would buy a high horsepower car in the first place because there's no way you can use all of that power on the street. Some of these comments have been a "wake-up call" for me. I never realized the danger I'm creating by driving on the streets of my community. I've seen the light! I'm going to sell my car tomorrow and buy a Prius.

Dunno. I love the hellcat. I think it's sick. Looks muscular, big, mean, sounds wicked, and has the muscles to back it up. Good job dodge. To the people complaining that it's not a complete package, it was never meant to be a complete package.

Car is decent for what it is. I don't think they are the most attractive cars from the back end but...its an interesting concept that will have the straightline boys pre-cumming in their boxers.

That one in the pic does nothing for me, the color is unimpressive and those black wheels are overdone nowadays. The car itself is cool with a better color /wheel combo. JMO

I think it's an awesome car. Yes, my car would spank it also but that's not what its about. Horsepower wars are a great thing for car guys.
