main fuel pump change???
my 03 coupe is not getting fuel. the dealership is telling me that the main fuel pump is bad. they say they have to pull the diff to get to it. it is my understanding that the c5 has 2 tanks and 2 pumps. one pump sifons gas from the passenger side to the driver side tank. the pump on the driver side pumps fuel to the motor. is this true? they said it would be $3500 to change the main fuel pump.

It depends on what type of fuel system you have.
They changed the fuel system design half way through the 2003 production cycle.
The 97-03 type has the pump at the bottom side of the tank right by the rear driverside wheel well.
The 03-04 type has the pump on the top of the tank, and is much harder to access, since the whole tank has to be dropped.
You don't have to take the diff out in either case. For the 03-04 systems, it is easier to remove the tanks if you drop the transmission and exhaust, but its not necessary, and dropping the transmission and then bolting it back up does should cost $3500, its really pretty easy to do on a C5.
Check your VIN, if your VIN is LATER than 114930 (last 6 digits), then you have the "top mount" style system, which sucks.
If your VIN is EARLIER than 114930, you have the side mounted pump, which is not hard to get to. I could take my pump out in less than an hour.
