Header and Cam Suggestions
Im looking to add some ponys Need some advise. 2000 A4 basically stock. Looking to add OBX headers and cam. I need cam info. I do not want an extreme lope. Car is only street driven . I assume the engine will need to be put on a dyno when done. Too much HP on the streets these days need to keep up, as im over 65 and don't want to be blown away. Thanks

Just looking for a little more power, don't really want to get into stall and tranny coolers. If I can get close to 400hp that would be great. Just trying to see what Im getting into Thanks for your input

With an A4 and a cam you'll have to put a stall converter in it just to get the tune correct. If not, you'll be idling at ~1500 RPM's with your foot on the brake.

Yup what he said above, you will need a stall, and once you have a stall you will have to have a trans cooler. or go through transmissions every few moths.

why OBX headers ? any specific reason why ?
depending on how low your car is and/or what your driving conditions are the OBX may hang pretty low to the ground causing it to bottom out ...

Car is stock height, thinking of using OBX based on price with no other mods. Im open to suggestions, there is a lot of experience on this forum Thanks

IMHO i love my C5 and would never go the cheap route with anything on it...
i just ordered a set of American Racing Headers for my C5 and from all my research and info i gathered it was the best that suited me..
easy fit/best low ground clearance/and less chance of any leaks plus the amount of HP gained of course....
cant wait to get them next week..

Comp Cam 228 230 580 581 113 LSA and LG Pro headers. You should not need a stall, etc. with that setup.

I was looking at headers and a cam but was told by the shop that with a good cam I would be putting in new valve springs every 15-20k. On my car that would be every 4 months and I'm not down for that, so I decided I am happy with the power and will add headers/x-pipe and put my money into my brakes and suspension.
Smaller cams you can go 30-35k miles, the bigger ones closer to 15-20k miles between spring changes (valve springs are $425).

I went with XSPower headers and hiflo catted x pipe. Both went in from the bottom, Sounds great with my corsa cat-back. $675 shipped and got them in 2 days

I've heard the obx headers don't always fit really well. I saw mixed reviews, so I did the lg street headers and off road x. Running this with the stock ti system sounds great! I also added a 232\236 .595 .605 114 cam. Made 411rwhp and 382 torque in a very very hot July in Texas.

In the long run you get what you pay for IMO..
Remember those headers are exposed to the elements and reach pretty high temps, just because they are Stainless Steel does not mean they are as good as some other SS materials.
it would suck to go threw all that trouble to install them and one day you bottom out bend a pipe or they crack... just my 2 cents
i have wanted to go the cheaper route a cpl times but i love my car and it only gets the best treatments . JS
