Default Corvette Lovers and Haters

Targa Off

So I'm at a snow cone shop with my wife and an F-150 with lots of bling on it pulls up to the same place and out comes a guy with his family. This guy has his wife 2 teen daughters and a little boy who's probably about 8 and the little boy sees my car with the targa off and I can see it in the little boys eyes. He fell in love with my car. He points to the car and says to his father " daddy , one day I want to own a car just like that one " I was compelled to tell him my story about corvettes. I knelt down to look at him in his eyes and said " you know , I said those exact same words once when I was about your age " the little boy smiled and looked at his dad and I said nothing else to him. The little boys father without hesitation says to his family " OK , everyone get back in the truck! We're leaving! "

I guess some Ford guys must really hate Chevys and Vettes is all I could think of why this guy was so angry.

This guy could have issues ! maybe he hates Corvettes and if u were in a Mustang he could have responded in a nicer way, but he also could be anti social and that's the way he is ! it is kind of strange as I find Corvettes in general put smiles on many peoples faces !!! Myself and the wife get compliments every where we go and many times people just like to chat whether I am filling up gas or washing the Vette !

Oh yeah by the way I Love your Corvette, beautiful color !

Yikes.. I could never understand taking it so seriously. Rivalry and grudge races are one thing, shutting down your own kid for liking the "wrong" car is just low.

Maybe he didn't like strangers (men) kneeling down and talking to his son?

That in fact is the most likely scenario in this day and age, and probably had nothing to do with a Vette or the truck at all.

He was just being Pro-active in managing his child's encounters with strangers....don't take it seriously.

Given todays environment and If I had a young child I'd go into that mode as well. You just never know.

Well your first indication that he wasn't right was that he was driving a Ford.

Corvettes aren't for everyone but at least the little boy may be a future owner.

That's awesome (about the kid).

After spending the day in the hot *** sun with my C4 at my first car show a few years ago, a kid walked up just as I was about to leave and said "There are some real nice cars here, but I like yours the best. It looks like it's going fast ALL THE TIME." It put a huge smile on my face and made the day so totally worth it.

I know a lot of people that hate on the Corvette. It aint for everyone, but a Mustang has never and will never be fore me.

Say what?
He didn't say anything bad about your car or you, he simply told his family it was time to go.

I have found that the Corvette is a Love it or Hate it Car. My first Corvette was an 88 Convertible. I had someone walk on the back hatch of it, spit on the driver's window, urinate on the Hood, leave an empty bottle in the seat, and worst of all someone drove over the front bumper and hood with a large Truck. It taught me that everyone doesn't love them and some people truly hate them. With my current 00 Convertible I only take it where I can see it all the time or trusted locations.

Hmmmm.
Another truck driving hater. Any connection????
I wonder if the guy did 'that' to your car, while his children were watching?

Actually, it seems 'hating' is an epidemic in this country the last few years.
Adults do it, and the children learn.....

Maybe you gentlemen are right and he may have taken offense to me talking to his boy and telling him my story but the truth is that this man heard every word I said to his boy and my wife was standing right next to us so she heard every word too. I didn't take it too serious as I know Ford guys hate us but I have an 8 year old boy too and I took it to heart because I can't see myself cutting him down for liking a car. Even if one day he wants to own a mustang I wouldn't think less of him. I just wouldn't agree with his taste but that would be it.
