2002 Headlight not closing properly
Hi All,
I have an '02 Corvette, when I turn the headlights off, the Left headlight closes fully but then opens approximately 1" and stays there. There is no issue with the Right headlight. When they are turned on both open fully and operate correctly, it is only in the off position where there is a problem.
I am able to manually close the headlight by rotating the adjustment ****, but when the headlights are turned on again and cycled, it again fully closes and reopens approximately 1" above the fully closed position.
Any thoughts on how to remedy this?
Thanks

Hi Stu,
Thanks for the reply, my bumpers are in good condition and in place.
Any other thoughts?
Is there a limit switch that tells the motor when to stop rotating when it reaches the full closed position?
Thanks

Your plastic headlight gear may be missing one or more teeth. Brass replacement gears are available from the above supplier. Not sure what else it could be. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in.

Stu,
You definitely pointed me in the right direction...after going back to the site to look at the brass gears, I see he posted a service bulletin from GM that talks about this exact problem that relates only to the left headlight.
I will install the washers and see if that fixes the issue.
Here is the link to the bulletin

Thanks again,
