Default Fix for small tear in center console cover?

Ticked me off today...got in and noticed a small tear in my center console cover right under where my right elbow normally rests. Only about 1/4" long and perfectly straight - almost looks like it was punctured with a pocket knife.

Didn't notice it at all before...can't figure out for the life of me how it could have happened, but it did obviously.

Anyways, a new one with no logo or anything on eBay is over $100. Has anyone used VLP or anything sort of repair kit on something small like this? If so, is the repair noticeable?

I was thinking about using a toothpick or something to apply the VLP then putting some black paint on it. Is there a better way?

It's really a very small cut but it bugs the crap out of me.

Ideas?

I'd take it off and find an auto or boat upholstery place - - -they could probably repair it for very little cost and make it look like new . . .

I had one done for $40 and it was like new once done..... do not try a cheesy repair that's going to look like you tried a cheesy repair.

PM me if your interior is black - I have my old console cover available - no rips or tears.

Maybe not worthwhile for a console cover, but Dennis at DD Mods has a guy that can work some magic on a tear like yours. I sent some Z06 seat covers and I defy anyone to find the repairs. Just saying for future reference.

Or if you have a vendor that specializes in upholstery repair for the auto dealerships in your area, try them. I have used a firm called Dr. Vinyl in the past and they did an excellent job - could not even see the repair when they were done.

You could buy a leather cover for the console. Several vendors here sell them.

That's the route I went. $ 69.00 on the auction site.

I took mine and had it stapled on the bottom at an upholstery shop though. It's a much cleaner look.

What did you have stapled? On my cover, I removed the console lid, then removed the bottom of the lid, put the cover on then put the bottom back on, trapping the edges of the cover between the two pieces.
