Window cleaning
Two questions:
1. I'm 5'10", normal length arms, and some rotator cuff issues on my dominant side. Short of getting a pet chimp and training him to clean the inside of the windshield, anybody got some good tricks for getting that surface really clean?
2. Question #1 is prompted by the fact that I am having a lot of trouble lately getting the glass really clean even on the outside. It's like there's a really persistent film that nothing wants to cut through. Even when I do get it clean, it only stays clean for a day or so and then starts streaking up again. It seems to have started this summer...right after I installed the RaceDeck flooring. Is it emitting some kind of vinyl 'fog' like you get on the inside glass of cheap cars?

For the outside - I used a clay bar lubricated with detailing spray followed by a good washing as part of my normal car wash. Worked great. I have the same problem on the inside and it is a pain in the **** go get it clean.

I just ordered some window cleaning cloths from southern car parts. Haven't tried them out yet, but they're supposed work very well.

I am having the same problem with the inside of my windshield also it has a film on it. I have HUD and thought there is a special finish on the glass. I tried cleaning it with just water and it is so slimey . Does anyone else have that problem?

Been meaning to try the clay-bar thing, just can't figure out why the stuff I've used for years (Invisible Glass) doesn't seem to cut through the film I'm seeing now.

The windshield glass on HUD-equipped cars is different, but whatever I'm seeing affects all of the windows.

If you have used Armour All or something similar, that can cause this to happen. As for cleaning the inside of the windshield, try this product. It will get into the corners like nothing else.

The cleanest windows I've ever seen are in taxi cabs in Tokyo. I don't know what the cab drivers use but their windows are spotless inside and out. If I spoke Japanese I'd have the answer.

I use Adam's Polishes window cleaner on my car. Works very well to get all the film and grime off the windows.

I used to do this when I was younger. I stopped using this formula years ago. Every time I did this I wound up at the local chip wagon ordering a fresh batch of french fries!!
Water and white vinegar is a good formula and so is using almost any of the store bought window cleaners. The trick is using just enough cleaner and a spotlessly clean micro-fiber cloth. If you mistakenly use a cloth that has been wiped over a waxed surface; you will never get the film removed, never. Using too much cleaner on the surface and not removing 100% of it on the wipe off, leaves behind a film. Also attempt to clean a cool windshield not one that is sitting and baking in the sunlight.
What works for me is the following. I spray the cleaner lightly on the cloth and wipe until dry. Then repeat that process until I have completed the window.

The cleaning products used on the car haven't changed over the last 18 months and the problem has gotten progressively worse over this summer.
