Help me plan a road trip
A dear friend in Buffalo recently lost his wife to cancer. He's interested in joining me for a brief road trip. (Brief meaning 5 days - that's all I can afford.) Tentatively we plan to meet up in Albany, where he will be on business. My suggestion is to drive to Bowling Green and then back to Buffalo where I will drop him off. His mom is in an assisted living facility in Latrobe, PA, so that is a likely layover for one evening. Maybe we hit Latrobe coming and going.
Given those parameters, what do you recommend for roads? Food? Hotels? Sightseeing? Other?
All ideas welcome.
PS: Should I eke the last couple of thousand miles out of these godawful runflats and let the car sit on them all winter, or should I splurge on new Hanooks for the road trip, knowing that the car is going into hibernation shortly thereafter?

There are few websites that help plan your road trip.

I found that roads good for motorcycles are great for Vettes too:

Sorry to hear about your friend's loss. I think it is great you're going to spend some time with him.
Change the tires now. The peace-of-mind knowing you have good rubber on the road is worth it not to mention the safety of you and your passenger. The weather is very unpredictable this time of year.

Sorry about your friends loss. If going with non run flat don't forget a tire plug kit , air compressor and AAA. Hopefully your trip will happen soon as the weather changes quick especially with cold temps coming across the lake. Have a great trip!

I'm getting the new tires, not because the tread was low on the old ones, but because they were loud and hard. Hanooks go on the car on Monday. I have great expectations for improvement.
Yes, I'll get an air compressor and already have AAA. The weather is really a big risk, but I could not get away on any different days. November 5-9 are the dates. Planning to do the Museum/Factory tour and then go down to Nashville for the evening.
I'd bring that little white dog if I could. She's really cute.

I might suggest the following trip ( done it a couple times after picking up a friend in upstate NY ) . After Buffalo head over to Cleveland to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ( awesome stop ) then head South to Bowling Green . You can stop in PA on the way home . Have a great trip !!!!!!!
FWIW - 2 Weeks ago I put a set of the Non-Runflat Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions on my car for the same price as Hankooks - these tires are so quiet and really hug the road - even quieter than the Non-Runflat Michelin Pilot Sports they replaced - couldn't be happier
