It looks pretty cool. I'd like one. I always get a chuckle out of people who justify spending hundreds and most of the time thousands on carbon fiber to cut the weight. Looking at the average corvette owner, (myself included), I can see a 50 pound weight reduction that doesn't cost anything.

From the article:
Given three months and 800 man hours went into the build, it won’t come cheap. It will, however, be very light on its feet with the liberal application of carbon fiber stripping 287LBS from the C5’s curb weight.

Just heard back from nick. It's a wide body kit and sounds like it's 40k + shipping... I guess I can rule this out from my list of future purchases...

That looks bad ***, but so not worth it for the weight savings. I shaved 12lbs off my motorcycle swapping out all the hardware for titanium. Also not cheap, but also pimp factor.

Bahahahahahabahabahahah- doesn't a C5Z already weigh like 150+ lbs less than this base c5 for roughly the same price? Wtf?!?

This is the dumbest waste of money I've seen in a while, you could put a custom twin turbo on the the thing and carry around a gold plated crate full of 300 lbs of gravel in the hatch, cost less than this oh so 90s carbon fiber mess and still be faster

Makes no sense...:I mean hell that chromed out SL I saw in UAE makes more sense than this, what has been achieved here? A whopping 287 lbs?!?!? Wtf

The car had to have shed weight in many other places to drop 300lbs. The plastic body likely doesn't weigh 300lbs wet, with extra paint, clear bra, and bugs.

I don't see the appeal to CF. Some accents are ok, but to have your entire care be in that pattern? Its not for me. And if it was...over a 100K for this....I wish I had that kind of money to burn.

Carbon is an amazing product, but with the car already being made of fiberglass, I would take the weight out of the parts that weights the most...think of the chassis

let me see.. boring out the cylinder liners and would also take away weight, since .20 over pistons don't weigh that much

Default just one question

do they Make sectional roof for the c5Z ? ... it would in theory put my Z at around 2600lbs and still have the ac, power steering, radio, FULL interior to loose weight on

I agree its badass. All the mods cats do their rides. Its their money do as you please. I bet its a show stopper I would like to see it in person. It might not be for everyone but then again a Corvette isnt for everyone.

Yep.... Looks cool. Its most likely a toy for the owner so he/she probably doesn't care about ever getting their money back. Some people spend thousands on food, wine, or whatever. And some people buy toys to have fun. You only live once.

The parts aren't that expensive, they are competitive with other manufacturers. I will definitely be buying their targa top, possibly the hatch and maybe all the front end pieces, minus the hood (i like acp's extractor better). My coupe is currently 3150, shave 300 lbs... not to mention i have plenty of other weight reduction mods still to do....

Can you imagine cutting 400 lbs or more off of a c5? Nasty.

List of parts and cost in Euros. You would need to convert to US dollars.

They sell their targa top on ebay, aprox 1700 with shipping from greece, not too bad at all. The big stuff would be the tricky part, shipping and all
