Never been deer hunting (have hunted rabbits and squirrels though), but I can see where it would be a very tough decision on whether to go to the show or go hunting. I'm sure the chance to get another big buck mounted on the wall is hard to pass up.

I see the wife will not let U hang the heads in the house, or is it full, LOL. I have hunted in my younger days but my bed feels better on those cold mornings but to each his own. Happy hunting

Have been deer hunting a number of times. The last time was while I owned a house and ten acres on top of Storm Mountain, west of Loveland, CO. Had never seen anything previously, but the last time there on Storm, two hundred yards from my front door, I was walking a power-line road. As I came up to a small evergreen tree, a young Mule deer buck that had been bedded down under it jumped up right in front of me. He was so very close that I could have just hip-shot him. I couldn't have missed!!!! Was using a Browning Medallion 7mm Remington magnum. The safety was right under my thumb on top of the stock. I wouldn't have even had to make a move to release the safety!! We stood there looking at each other eye to eye for approximately ten seconds, frozen!!!! Then he jumped to his right and bounded down a shallow ravine and was gone.
Didn't matter though as after looking that beautiful animal in the eye, I knew that I would never have pulled the trigger!!!!! Just couldn't bring myself to do it. I don't have anything whatsoever against hunting, it's just not for me. Also, in all fairness, I just don't care for the taste of wild game. With the major exception of Pheasant!!!!! Man, is that stuff good!!!!!!
I have always been a natural marksman though (my first night at NRA as a young teen, I qualified for the first five patches and two pins) and that Browning was an absolutely beautiful rifle. Two-tone fully checkered stock, inlaid gold engraving on trigger guard and bolt, etc., etc.
As I now live in the middle of NE Colorado farm land, maybe I should find a shotgun as nice as that Browning and go get me some Pheasant!!! I see them on the road all the time and GOD what stupid birds they are!!!!! Wait until you are right on top of them and then fly straight into your car!!!!!!! Are they trying to commit suicide?!?!?
Sorry guy, got a little carried away!
Good luck on your hunt!!!

Gun season opens this Saturday in Texas, what to do, go to the NASCAR race or deer hunting, looks like I'll be recording the race.

Cool pic.. I thought this thread was about a C5 HITTING a buck on the highway.
I'm not much of a hunter, would rather fish, camp, all that stuff. So I'd pick a car show.

So, you're comparing a Marine to someone who hunts a defenseless animal? What a nitwit. If you're a hunter, go for it, but what you are insinuating with that stupid remark is insulting.

Defenseless animal......The mature whitetail buck is armed with one of the most sensitive noses on the planet.......eagle like eyesight....and ears that hear like radar........No he doesn't shoot back.......but he is a very elusive, worthy quarry. I respect and love these animals......
I bow hunt and it is the hardest thing I've ever done.........except for putting a heater core in a 69 chevelle.... and water pump on a Big Block 73 vette.....
Wasn't looking to stir up some controversy.......just curious about who drives a C5 and hunts........
