Well they are 2 different beasts, Do you need a 4 seater? The Vette will out perform the Camaro all day. We can't answer your question, We don't know your needs, I know in my case it would be the Vette for sure.

2011 v8 camaro might be a little fast then the 2000 c5 if both stock, 11 camaro's can get in to the high 12's pretty often, most stock 2000 c5's only run low 13's.
if your planing on modding then i say the c5 its lighter, probably handles better then the camaro and will get more attention hands down. but if c5's parts are hard to get in your county the camaro might be better for you?

For me it would be the Vette, but I don't care for the Camaro - too many blind spots. Drive both and then decide based on your situation and needs which one is best for you.

When I pull up to a light, be it a dodge charger, comaro, or mustang, what-ever,,,
No one is looking at the others (hehe). All eyes are on the Vette..
Merry Christmas----- Get The Vette

I say this all the time, "A C5 is a timeless classic"
If you want something that will not get much attention on the road and even at shows etc. as well as something you can use to work in rain, snow or take to the grocery store plus race a few Civics, etc. then get the Camaro lol.

Anyway, the older 'Vette will murder the new Camaro, it has better gearing, plus it is a full 700 pounds lighter, weighed them both at the track. I just added another 100 pounds to the Camaro with a new stereo system, so now they are 800 pounds apart!
That said, the Convertible turns heads, the Camaro is too common, but a blast to drive.

I've owned both now, a 2010 Camaro SS and a C5 corvette. For me the deciscion would be the Camaro just due to being able to get parts easier due to geographical location. They are heavier but the fit and finish of the 5th generation camaro is excellent. Get a 6speed manual.
Happy Motoring!

Camaro looks better than a c5 hands down. Plus its newer so the technology isn't as dated (pop up headlights). Also the ls3 is a better engine.
If you do road course stuff I'd get the vette though. The extra weight is a killer.

Had a similar decision years ago. Opted for the Vette, hands down. Absolutely no regrets. The Camaros are a dime a dozen. The Vette stands out in the crowd. (Sometimes a little too much).. Looks-wise, the C5 is a gorgeous car. Look at all of the beauties in the "aggressive C5 thread". As for power, I wouldn't worry about a 3900lb car beating a 3250lb one. The same mods are available and the Vette is more aerodynamic for speed. I was running low 12's with minimal mods. Add a blower and you're in the 10's.

After my accident with my Trans Am, I crossed shopped both the C5 and the 5th gen Camaro. I looked at a few examples and this was my comparison between the two in my own opinion:
C5 Corvette:
-C5 is a good (for arguments sake) 750-850 pounds lighter than the Camaro
-C5 doesn't have as many blind spots as the Camaro
- For being designed ~20 years ago the interior is fair when compared to the camaro which is more modern obviously the camaros interior is more superior.
-C5 in my opinion is much more of a blast to drive
Camaros:
-Camaro has modern creature comforts, such as heated seats onstar bluetooth XM etc.
- It certainly is the more practical choice if practicality is what you're looking for it's very daily drivable as well. It has back seats but I don't believe they would be habitable unless your passenger doesn't have legs.
- When driving the Camaro, the seating position where I was comfortable (with the seat down in the lowest position and the seat reclined slightly me being 6' 1") if I hit a bump my head with hit the headliner.
-While driving both they both feel very powerful but the Camaros weight is obvious in feel when driving
- In 2SS trim you get a similar HUD that is optional in C5s and the retro style center stack gauges.
It came down this for me: for a 5th gens were slightly out of my price range I was willing to finance for the right car but I just didn't love the Camaro like I did with the C5 for someone whose comparing the two first thing I would do is ask if yourself about practicality. So I found a 2000 FRC and have been loving it ever since.

When I stop at a red light and a Camaro pulls up next to me it looks so big and bulky its almost ugly ! Never liked them and never will, I would rather drive an older Iroc Z than a 2011 Camaro ! i have raced a few SS Camaros and i leave them behind a few car length every time with my FRC (Sure i have a few bolt ons but who doesn't) ! I have always been a GM guy for the most part although i have owned a couple of 5.0 mustangs when i was in high school but in my opinion the new Mustang GT's are way nicer looking than the Camaros ! I still would not buy either one as i love Vettes ! you can have any Camaro you want but the minute a Vette pulls up (From any generation that is) all the glory is gone, If there was any!
As for the interior ! Big deal, someone mentions that the Camaro interior is way nicer than a C5, well i used to think so until
my wife bought her brand new 2014 Cruze and she has the same dash as a Camaro, almost the same exact dash gauges and the digital speedo as a Camaro !!!! maybe better seats that's about it.

With all due respect, since I am a vendor here, the comments regarding no one looking at a Camaro, etc., and a light or it being a dog is not correct at all.
Just the interior of a 5th gen Camaro compared to a C5 is night and day. The modern interior styling and the bells and whistles compared to the C5 are second to none.
I do have a 2010 Camaro and admittedly it is not anywhere close to stock so I may be experiencing different results since mine is so modified.
I only drive it two or three times per year as I have enough money into it that it is over a $75,000 car+ as that is only all of the mods at my cost with no labor, etc.
I can't even go to a gas station without someone coming over and saying something to me about it and there are nothing but positive responses and remarks. I do take extremely good care of it and as I mentioned I don't drive it much and keep it in immaculate condition so it basically looks like a show car.
Stock for stock I think you'll find the Camaro hanging with the C5 in a straight line.
But people with C5's with some bolt-on,s stating they're killing stock Camaro's is really no big deal. If you put headers and a cold air intake in the Camaro it is over 500 HP.
I have a little bit more than some bolt-on's in my car and I am at over 750 HP.
