C5 Value Dropping or should I say plummeting???
I have been debating with myself whether I should sell or keep my car but I think I will just keep it after seeing the KBB value of it.
When I purchased the car in May of 2013 the value according to the KBB was $13,000 and now its $6,650 in good condition? But the NADA value is around $10,000...
Anyone think the C5's value is going to drop anymore? I never see any C5s unless it's salvage go for $6000....

I think they will continue to drop, nothing collectible of any of these newer corvettes. Basically just a cool used car especially as it gets harder to find the electronics to keep them running. I kinda think the era of the collectable vette is gone.

According to a source like Corvette Magazine, some of the C5s are showing signs of appreciating in value. Whether in the real world those estimates hold true could be another story. For a well maintained, lower mileage and visually excellent car, the value should still be pretty good. If the car has a ton of miles on it, then sure the value will continue to drop. I do not put much confidence in KBB for pricing a car - NADA seems to be more accurate.

Later cars seem to be more resilient to depreciation, but that's likely just because they're newer. AS C7 availability increases, values of all the earlier gens will go down. Have you seen C6 values lately? They're tanking. A nice late model (02+) C5 is the same price as a higher mileage worn C6, and many would argue that the C6 is a better buy. My concern is what will happen to C5 values when clean C6's are the same price as clean late model C5s. Will there be enough people like us that demand C5's over C6's to keep the values up? It's hard to tell.
Still, I think there's a floor in C5 values, and it's likely in the low teens for clean, lower mileage cars. The C5 is such a performance bargain as it is, there will always be a certain level of demand to keep prices up. Considering that clean C4's are still transacting close to $10k, and C5's are a quantum leap forward in performance, I think we're ok for a long while.
I'm hoping that C7 volume stays constrained, boosting C7 prices, and keeping C6 prices up. If the price differential between C6's and C5's is maintained, we'll be a-ok.

Quick search and that one came up. Most in this area are anywhere from 10-13K for coupes for decent ones and "high mileage" according to Vette owner standards. The Z06 IMO are still bringing halfway decent money which is good to know since I purchased mine in May of last year. With that in mind it seems that prices will drop this time of year, but should hopefully rebound when spring returns.
Agreed mine has been blast. I have a history of owning cars for 2 years or less then selling/trading for something different. I know I'm still early in the game of ownership, but my Z06 hands down has been one of the most fun vehicles I have owned. Not to mention having to get use to all the thumbs up, waves, and parking lot compliments. My 8 year old daughter has fallen in love with the car and i just can't fathom the tears she would shed if I got rid of it. LOL

I can tell you from my extensive search before buying mine in November that there isn't a C5 to be had for that kind of money unless it's salvage. Most nice C5's in the Midwest that I priced are anywhere from $15k to $24k and I found that it depended more on mileage and overall condition more so than year.
If these cars are worth $7k - $10k then sign me up for purchasing a couple more!!! After my first drive in mine it became worth it's weight in gold!

C5 values will also change with the seasons. Typically convertibles drop in price during the winter months and then start to climb back up in the spring.
The Z06 is holding it's value at least compared to coupes. But I think it's still a matter of time of year when it comes to pricing. And Corvette values will be different in different parts of the country. Books like KBB and NADA will usually reflect that. And its hard to build some sort of "standard" in terms of how a car looks (curb appeal) to a buyer or even a seller. The trade-in books don't really provide for a more critical inspection other than their basic categories of condition.
I really don't use the books, much less care about them, when it comes to a car's value. The salesman on a car lot typically uses the books for an initial low-ball offer for a trade and an inflated purchase price for the buyer.

I don't place much credibility on the pricing guides from any of the sources. They can swing wildly from too high or too low. I have noticed the prices generally dropping too. Nice cars seem to be about $2k or $3k less than a year or two ago.

If someone offered me $10 for mine, I would tell them to take a hike. If someone wanted to sell me one in the same condition as what I own. I would buy two of them on the spot! Anything for sale is only worth what a buyer will pay for it, pretty simple.

Ive never once based a purchase or a sale on what some book says, I base them on the current used market and what they are currently selling for.
Many C5's here are for sale for higher prices then even the C6's, which I still don't understand.
