Not sure why all the negative comments. A little confused about the lambo door comments, suggesting that this is a poser show car.
THIS CAR, is what the poser show cars are imitating. This is a purpose built and designed race car. Not a hacked together car with every item from Ecklers thrown on it. You can tell almost every aspect of the body is designed for a useful purpose.
Sure its a little outdated, but so what? It represents the best from the era that it was made. In 15 years a lot of our tastefully modded C5's will look dated.
Reminds me of this picture, with Jay Leno and a Dodge Viper when it first came out in 1992. It had 400 hp from 8 liters, and everyone was amazed at how powerful it was. Looks very dated now, (and look at those wheels!)

Yeah, well I bid $17k...for those historic acid washed jeans that Chuck Norris is wearing (standing next to Leno in that picture). LMAO
Any jeans where you can throw repeated stretch kicks without tearing anything are flat-out amazing.

You know how many guys have taken their C5's to the "next level" of performance, and WAY beyond, for a fraction of 200k? I hate widebody kits on Corvettes; they're really wide to begin with. I will grant you that there are much worse looking body kits available than the Callaway. Just trying to make a C5 look like an exotic is something I find distasteful. But then, I don't care for the hatchback body style, either.
Built in conjunction with the IVM Engineering Group of Germany, the C12 project was a combined effort of Callaway Cars (USA) and Callaway Competition (Germany). With styling provided by Callaway’s accomplished designer, Paul Deutschman, the C12 used the 1997-2004 Corvette platform as a donor vehicle, transforming an already-great car into a world beater. With the completely new body a full two meters wide to take advantage of Le Mans dimensional regulations, Callaway engineers developed the C12 coil-over suspension with its own unique control arm forgings and tuned, adjustable dampers. C12.R power was provided by highly tuned, naturally aspirated LS-series engines built by Callaway to Le Mans specs, while C12 road cars were powered by the SuperNatural version of the new LS-series Corvette engines.
While power of supercars today has eclipsed that of the C12, it was a benchmark of the era, and one which stands on it's own.

I love Callaway C12's I think they look great still today however I think that particular color combo sucks for a car like that especially the boring gray interior, and think it would have looked much better with something like this.

That car was the deal of a century if it actually sold for the high bid. Who owned it first would be meaningless for me, that car is an amazing package with almost no miles (I drive that in 3 months) and a proven performance record.
I think it's hot as hell.
