C5 Convertible trunk lid opening
When I activate the trunk release on my 2004 convertible it opens but not enough for me to get my fat fingers around the edge to lift it up. Is there a fix for it to pop open further or is there some type of handle available that can be installed on top of the lid to raise it when it pops open? Any help would be appreciated.

Trunk spring
This is a great site, i am getting help without asking questions, just reading. I will be purchasing the spring for my trunk. I am a new C5 owner, this is my first Corvette and i am very happy. this forum will be daily reading for me. Thanks all for the help with my trunk issue.

No holes are drilled, you simply remove a screw, place the spring in place and replace the screw in it's original hole.

The real issue is the struts. As they age they don't have *** much grunt, replace them and your problem will be solved with an added bonus of the lid staying open all the way up, even in a moderate breeze.

I installed new struts. The difference in opening distance between new and old was quite small. I did not want to install the spring on my trunk because I did not like the way it hung down with the trunk open. (Purely my preference, not a knock on the product.) Accordingly, I just open and close the door with the windows up on my 2001 Z-06. This pops the trunk up a good two inches after I activate the remote. Sometimes simple is the best.

Had this problem on my '01. It had a "popper" and still would not open much. Bought new struts which helped for a short while. Finally found a post on CF that recommended lubricating the spring that pops the latch itself. It is located under the carpet at "female" or lower portion of latch for the lid. Lubricated the coiled part of the spring with some PB Blaster and have not had a problem since. Recommend you try this before buying new struts.

Enough to get a hold of it. Rinse/repeat as needed. It takes one minute of your time.
