Default C5 Shocks Replaced with C6 (Not Z06) Shocks

I just replaced by C5 shocks with regular C6 shocks. After 95000 on the original shocks - what a difference. Right now it looks like the car is sitting a little higher than prior to the change. Will the car settle as the shocks break in or should I lower the car? Otherwise great changeout.

That's exact the shock I was going to use on my base C5. IMO the C6z shock is too much for the base spring rate. Wanted a little upgrade but didn't want a stiffer shock than optimum. Stiffer is not always better. I do not have Z springs and figured the Z shocks are not a good match. The base C6 shocks are a little cheaper, and figured they might be better that what they used 72kmi ago in 97. Have not found any info on anyone that had done it yet, until now. If the C6z shock is much better than the C5z shock, wouldn't the same apply to the base shock?

Neither had I. The ride is great. I found out about the price afterwards - an added bonus. I thought I'd try the C6 shocks as I knew the ZO6 were going to be too stiff. Still need to figure out the ride height thing but not a big deal.

Not sure how far you have driven the car, but after a new install the suspension will take a few miles to settle down. Same thing happens when I jack the car up and then set it back on the ground. But if you have driven the car a bit and the car still sits high, then lowering it may be the best way to get it back down to where you want it to be.

Default 100 Miles

I've driven the car about 100 miles - so I guess any settling has occurred. Must be time to lower and get an alignment.

Thanks for the input.

Bob
