Default 2000 headlight motor drawing current

why would the drivers side headlight motor be drawing current with the key off? was helping my dad around the garage and heard a whistling noises from the front of his 2000. pulled a couple fuses until it stopped. turned out to be the head light motor. it worked fine when he parked the car before the bad weather. of coarse the battery was dead.

does it need rebuilt? whole thing replaced?

I had a similar thing happen with my '98. If I turned off the headlights in low beam, I could hear a hum and there was a current draw. Also, the warning chime would go off when the door was opened. I found that if I turn off the headlights with high beams on, I do not have a current draw. Not saying it is right but that is my work around. Good luck.

My first thought would be the headlight control module. One of the components inside is a 5-pole double throw relay. Contact(s) may be sticking, or the current-sensing circuitry not cutting power to the light motor properly (or both).

Where is the headlight control module located on the car. I looked all around under the hood near the coolant tank???

Jack up the front of the car... there is an access panel on the bottom in front of the front passenger wheel

The module is powered all the time regardless of whether the ignition is ON or OFF. So if it has a hiccup it can do what it wants.
