how much should i ask for my 1998 corvette?
I have a 1998 corvette coupe with 42000 miles. 5.7 , auto tranny with traction control. STD bose stereo with CD. forgot to mention i am the third owner of this car and is has always been garage kept and has never been a daily driver.I knew all of the previous ownwers which wer older gentlemen and never ran the car hard. i have done alot of little upgrades to this car like new stainless magna flow exhuast and x-pipe, NO headers, removed the wagon wheels and installed the chrome 5-star wheels, slotted drilled rotors, New red calipers. I installed new two tone leather seats and replaced the old seat foam when i did the seats. All new floor matts, rear cargo matt , I installed new pop up projector headlights which greatly increased the lighting and I also installed new trun signal marker lights and lenses. aI installed LED brak lights, All lazer mesh vent inserts. The car has never seen the rain except when getting cuaght out in a storm. the under carraige of the car looks like brand new as i have done alot of detailing to the under of the car. i know that dont mean much but I have always been a clean freak. I installed white guages in the dash. The only thing i did to the engine was install a Vararam cold air intake and a upgraded mass air flow sensor. does anyone know what i could rightly ask for this car with the info i provided. I have never had any issues with the engine, tranny what so ever and it runs great. thanks for any replys.

The tires are not run flats. Buy are in very good condition.nonku about three years old and maybe about 4,000 miles on the tires. That might be not so good but I could not stand the roughness of the run flats so I changed them to non runflats. The car is pewter metalic. I am unable to upload pictures for some reason.

That was my favorite color when I was looking. Came close to buying a 00 vert and a 01 coupe. It looks great with the polished wheels on it. The only thing you mentioned where I kind of winced was the magna-flow catbacks. They're kinda loud and might have droan. I passed on a car because of the droan from the magna flows. Otherwise, I'd agree with the estimates given above. You're headed into the best time of year to sell a Vette.

I'd say you could expect to get $16-17K or so. Sounds like a nice car. Best of luck with the sale.

Without looking at pics and just guessing here I would price it accordingly. I'd suggest if the goal is to sell and the emotional attachment is not clouding your common sense, you can price it competitively to sell at $16K and after negotiating and making someone feel like they beat you can walk away with $15.2-5K.
The good things going are that the car is not heavily modded so it could appeal to more people. Based on your description in good shape overall-mechanically and physically. This is would be a good one for someone looking to get into their first C5 or Corvette for that matter.

I just started looking for a C5 in/around Ohio and it seems almost everyone is asking $1,000's over KBB excellent condition pricing. Is KBB for corvettes that unrealistic?
Trying to find a 6speed with around 100k miles, clean title/good carfax is becoming more difficult than i thought without paying over $15k.
The one 99 with 104k miles for $10k i found - the guy said i was asking too many questions (Service records? reason for selling? any issues with it?) so that kind of turned me off of that one.
One guy has a 97 with 67K miles and they want $14.5k - KBB is $10k.
Then a 2002 with 78K miles for $12,800 and cant get the person to respond to questions.
Who knew it would be so hard to give away money for a car lol

To answer your question... As much as you can... now be sure you ask more than you are willing to accept. A lot of people just want to talk you down some, so give yourself a little wiggle room. Someone might even give you what your asking...with no questions or bickering GLWS!

Look at Edmunds as well. It seems to me a lot of owners overvalue their cars - and they probably change hands between enthusiasts at higher prices than normal.
I have a '98 MN6 coupe with every option for it's year, including both tops. Owned it from new, 75k on it, no track time, no damage ever. Low mileage on Mich. AS tires on 18/19 wheels. It's probably realistically worth around $10-11k. If I was selling it and got anything over that, I think I would be happy as a clam.

I paid less than !2,000 for a 95,000 mile 2001 Coupe last year ago.
I would not take !8,000 for my 2001 Convertible with 28,000 miles.
I needed new seat covers for the coupe, another $900 at the time.

I think if someone offers you $15K, you should take it and smile.

That's a $17000.00 car here too. If a dealer had a car like that on the lot around here it'd be $20000.00 or more. The white face gauges would turn me off the car though. Everything else I'd change back would be easy. A good clean Corvette that's not way over priced don't last long around here.

Not sure what that means. I think a lot of people on here are kidding themselves as to what their cars are worth.
Example: From Edmunds.com - I submitted mileage, color and options on my '98 coupe:
Customized True Market Value® Prices
Trade-In/ Private Party/ Dealer Retail
$9,527/ $10,641/ $12,546
At the end of the day, it's 17 year old car - let's all get real here. And, BTW, most mods do not add value; they may well decrease it. For example, the OP's car has mods I would not want. Factory original probably gets the best price. That's why when I put a CAI on and changed wheels, I kept the "take off" stuff, - someone, somewhere in the future may even really value wagon wheels.........

If some of you saw the prices the C5 were fetching at the Corvette public auction at the Expo, it might make you cry. I gave $13.5k last year for my 02 with 100k miles (loaded and with both tops), but after watching the auction last weekend, I felt robbed.
C5 auction prices are low and this was a public auction, not just a "dealer only" auction. There were also lots of C5s for sale.
The highest bid on a 2004 with 40k miles was $13k. Seller wanted $14k to let it go, so it did not sell.
