c5 shift knob upgrade ideas?

Ball is little big, but it is better since it makes me to use my whole palm to shift. It gives More sure shifting action with the aftermarket shifter kit I have.
Also it is glossy, so my hand doesn't slip. My other one was delrin material and my hand would slip time to time weather my palm is dry or sweaty.

You just have to try out![/QUOTE]
What is the diameter of the shifter ball?

Am I the only one that thinks the ball shifter **** looks dated in a C5? Granted its probably better than the stock one, but I think 66 GTO when I see one...

I have the MGW Race **** (with my MGW shifter) and love it. Much better feel than stock, small and easy to grip.

I removed it, but it could be done in place. Take the OEM **** off, and then pop the leather boot out to expose the lever. You would need a good big pair of vise grips to hold the lever (probably around the insulator) in place with one hand, while you cut and threaded with the other (or a helper of course) so as not to put the force of sawing and threading into the shift mechanism itself. And plenty of rag/paper/whatever to collect the debris. Use plenty of lube while thread cutting (9/16" x 18 tpi die) - proper cutting oil is best, but grease is a good backup.

I like my c6 ****, it feels perfect and looks much better than the c5 ****... I have an mgw shifter with a c6 shaft but someone makes a c6 **** that is threaded if you want to use your current shifter, I can't remember who sells them though

Yeah...it's prob too late!! Mine is the bigger ball anyway. Hope you like the one you ordered. If you can convert your deal to a lathe you could also try making a Delrin ****. I made one for my Z and I love it!! Good luck!!
