Default what happen to my keyless entry?

My 98 C5 has issue with the steering column lock years ago. I brought to the dealership and they said it was under a recall. They had me sign the consent form before they fix it. I signed the form and got the car back with non-locking steering wheel.

The real problem is that I can't never use my keyless entry option anymore. My keyfob did not work with the car. And my memory option was out of whack. Any idea?

Did you try retraining the fob to the car?

So this has been for years? Never fixed since the lock repair? Probably just need to hold down unlock and lock together until the horn honks, that'll resync the FOB. Then guessing you will have to reprogram each FOB/position. Put the seats and all where you like, hold down the 1 button on the door until it beeps or blinks (can't recall which).

The early FOBs have a known cold solder issue that can be fixed with a DIY re-solder. That may be your issue. I have the info at home and will try to provide it to you.

I'm guessing the dealer disconnected the battery which caused the fob to deprogram.

When I first saw this thread I thought there would be a bunch of wisecracks.

I have been deployed so many damn times to Iraq and Afghanistan. My corvette has been sitting in my garage for years. Every time I got a new battery for it, I retrained my FOB. The FOB works for about 15 min then stop syncing to my car. Is there any other way(s) to retrain the FOB beside hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons? Please advice. Thanks for all the good tips.

Your owners manual provides the guidance. If you don't have one let us know since you can get a free PDF download.
