You can try Cultrag Performance (forum vendor) for a new set. Otherwise, try posting a wanted to buy thread in the C5 Parts for Sale section and see if someone has one for sale - sometimes you can get them at a decent price.

Check the C5 Parts For Sale section.

$300 is absurd. I picked up a used, complete 3-book set for my '02 at a swap meet for $90. It's in excellent condition and no missing pages.

For my '03 they were only $130 new, and they don't change much year to year, so you could buy one that's a year or two off, if the price is right.

Do NOT buy one that is not for your year and expect it to be correct. You have no idea how many changes I have seen between the years, primarily in the schematics. I have the hard copy for my 2001 but I have to use my electronic version for the other years to make sure my info is correct.

Certain key systems experienced design changes/improvements along the way i.e. braking, fuel, emissions, drive-train, etc.

When you type in "1999 C5 Corvette factory service manual", OR "Corvette factory service manual" in Ebay Motors - Parts and Accessories, this is just 2 examples of what comes up:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Chevy-Corvette-Factory-Service-Manuals-/261763097630?hash=item3cf24be41e&vxp=mtr

Search terms,........it's all about the search terms. Tip: for ANYTHING automotive related, go directly to Ebay motors for searching for parts/accessories, or cars themselves, etc

One thing about the fleabay '99 manual link, is that they are the preliminary versions. Those versions had white covers. The production or final book sets had red covers.

The white cover books will work, but they may not be 100% complete or may have some 1998 information. When the preliminary books were released, GM techs were asked to provide updates or improvements to the various repair procedures for the '99 MY cars. Once that was done, the final printing took place and the red covers were used.

The only preliminary C5 versions I saw were for the '97s, which as you know was the first year of production for the C5, and for which apparently the finalized version had not yet been published.

The 1999 model year FSMs I posted the links to, are actually the correct pale pink color of the regular FSM for all '99s. As you probably know, in each of the years of C5 production, the FSAs had a different color and/or graphics design for ease of quick identification.

Additionally, if a manual is a "preliminary" manual, it will be stipulated/printed on the cover.

Edit: I just came across this new listing today. Smoking deal for a used 1999 set:
