I know this isn't a C5, but..
I follow this part of the forum at a C5 owner. Well today at the good guys car show in Del Mar California, a very nice C1 was leaving the show after it ended, being harassed to do a burnout, he falls to the peer pressure and lights em up around a corner and didn't get very far.. ended up hitting the stone garden and then bounced off the building and tree... sad day in the corvette community...

A really stupid, and very costly, decision. Hope he was OK though.

Really too bad. Just another example of why you should always put your brain into gear before putting the car into gear. A costly error in judgement that could have been avoided. Hopefully, the only injury was to the owner's pride. It could have been a lot worse.
Our cars are exceedingly powerful and fast. When the laws of physics take over (ie; "an object in motion tends to stay in motion") you will lose control. Even if your car is equipped with ABS and traction control, they still won't protect you from being stupid.
