Bummer. Hope you weren't at fault. I've seen countless near misses from these situations. People either assume the person waving them on has checked all other pathways on their behalf, or they get antsy because they're being waited on, or they just plain don't think because it's a fairly uncommon situation that turned into a distraction. I'm super cautious now before giving anyone the go ahead, most of the time I'll just give them space and make eye contact and nod..

Gotta love all these people that play traffic cop in their cars. Anytime someone starts waiving at me, I just ignore it - they are not going to pay for the results if they are wrong!
