Default TRIP to the CORVETTE MECCA- **UPDATED WITH PICS!

I'm making a a quickly planned trip to Nashville, TN, in about a week for business and I see that my route will take me, if not through, very close to Bowling Green, KY. I've always planned to have a Corvette and drive it to the museum. My question is, how much time does one need to see the sites there and is there a better time of day to go?

It'll take several hours to really enjoy the museum. If you plan to do the factory too, plan a full day. I-65 runs right past the museum and plant.

If you don't have time to do both I would do the assembly plant. The museum was great but I know a lot of the history and have seen a lot of old corvettes. The factory was very interesting to me, My wife even enjoyed it.

If you do both, plan on about four hours or so. Make sure you know what times they offer the plant tour so you can go there and not waste a lot of time. Both are worth seeing - and if you only have time for one, at least see the museum. Lots of , historical things there.

I'm down there every six weeks or so with my job, while I love the museum the plant tour is the can't miss!

My job has taken me in the plant a few times and the folks on the line do get a laugh when the see me on the tour. Have to separate work and pleasure sometimes!

Thanks for all the input guys, I think we've decided to actually leave a day earlier and stay the nite in Bowling Green to make sure we get to check out the whole enchilada.

I also agree with your plan, that is what the wife and I did on the way to Fla this winter. Made sure we had the whole day so we were able to take in everything without rushing. Enjoy, And have a safe trip.

the Corvette Factory and the Museum are wonderful things to see. It's been years since I was there, and hope to return someday.

And, if you find time, Mammoth Caves is just 35 (approx) miles off the the east. A fun side trip, if you're interested in that type of thing.

It's been a few years but if memory serves, they do the plant tours twice daily. It's a good idea to check schedules, etc ahead of time.

I forgot that Kentucky is 1 hour behind Michigan and got to the plant tour an hour early. Kinda neat though as the waiting room for the tour has a bunch of display cases with historical Corvette items to look at. The place was run by retired Bowling Green Assembly Plant workers who had some great stories.

Turns out, most on here were right. We had a GREAT time at the assembly plant and preferred it to the museum. And I now know I NEED a 2015 Night Race Blue ZO6 Convertible, with a Kalahari tan leather interior and top, and spider wheels. And of course I'll want the $5, 000 "build my own engine" option. Does anyone have $90k I can have?

A massive sinkhole opened up under the museum in last year and swallowed a bunch of cars. They were recovered, but as you can see many were damaged extensively.

When my brother and I did BG a few years back we hit Deals Gap on the way up. That was worth the slight detor. When at the NCM we did a GM factory tour first thing in the AM followed by the NCM and than another GM Factory tour in the PM. On the PM GM factory tour we were the only two on the tour so the tour guide did a slightly different tour from the AM tour after he found out we had already done one.

The funny thing about the trip is that we drove up in a 00 6 speed vert and drove back in a rented nissan versa. We visited Art's Corvettes just outside the NCM and he made me a cash offer on my car that was too good to pass up.

NCM and GM Factory tour are must do's. Enjoy.

I went last year did early morning factory tour. Word of warning when we got there the meeting area was packed may take a little while to actually get your tour started. Then we did museum walk through and gift shop. We also had time that day to do the main mammoth cave tour. would love to go back and do all the cave tours.

Was JUST there at the Museum picking my 99 back up (was a perfect meeting location).

Personally, the museum went by quick. Enjoyed everything, but it only took a couple hours at most. The gift shop..........spent some serious time browsing through there.

DEFINITELY do the plant. We couldn't because it's age 7 and up only and my kids are 1 and 5, but we'll be back. I was really bummed we couldn't do it but I wasn't going to go and leave the wife and kids out of the fun.
